Alhamdulillah, adik has been discharged from her occupational therapy sessions. However, kakak still has a bit more to go.
Only either my wife or I can accompany kakak and adik during their therapy sessions with the therapist and the assistant.
Adik went first. At first, she was a bit distracted by the unfamiliar surroundings, but she gradually completed all the tasks given by the therapist. I was so proud of her! The therapist confidently said that adik has made excellent progress and is ready to be discharged.
When it was kakak’s turn, she wanted to stay close to me the entire time. She tried doing what the therapist asked, but only halfway through. She seemed more interested in playing with other games and toys in the room, and kept going back and forth to sit with me.
Interestingly, at home, we’re more confident with kakak. But when there are unfamiliar faces around, she becomes more clingy. Babah was so geram because during the session, kakak actually can do it, but she refused to do it.
After the session, we went for makan-makan to celebrate adik’s discharge, but it was kakak who ended up being the most excited! Bertuah punya anak!
By the way, this is the pyramid the occupational therapist refers to when explaining our kids’ progress. If we want our kids to achieve academically, we have to ensure that the foundational skills at the lower levels of the pyramid are developed first.
