In an organization, institution, society or group, people are agents of change. Malcolm Gladwell, a journalist in his book “The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference” stated that the success of any kind of social epidemic is heavily dependent on the involvement of people with a particular and rare set of social gifts. Mark Zuckerberg, a co-founder of Facebook said that
“People influence people. Nothing influences people more than a recommendation from a trusted friend. A trusted referral influences people more than the best broadcast message.” Howard Shultz, the visionary of Starbucks, famously said “We built the Starbucks brand first with our people, not with consumers. Because we believed the best way to meet and exceed the expectations of our customers was to hire and train great people, we invested in employees.” Air Asia founder, Tony Fernandes claimed that “employees come number one, customers come number two. If you have a happy workforce they’ll look after your customers anyway.” It is evident that people are agents of change. Even in Al-Quran Allah says “Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves” (Quran 13:11).
