THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF SMART CITY APPLICATIONS 2022

THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF SMART CITY APPLICATIONS 2022

We successfully published six (6) research papers at the International Conference of Smart City Applications 2022, which took place in Morocco. I want to congratulate all the research students in our lab who have worked so diligently on their research that it is now their works being acknowledged and accepted at international level. Your hard work paid off.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES

Regarding our study findings, we have successfully acquired new Intellectual Properties (IP) that have been granted Copyright status. This intellectual property focuses on the 3D voxelization method for developing wind flow models.

Congratulations to Nurfairunnajiha Ridzuan. The student’s efforts have been acknowledged with accomplishment. It is her first opportunity to work with intellectual property. I intend to educate my students on the application procedures for intellectual property.

We certainly hope that our research lab will generate a more significant number of IPs.

GIS TRAINING FOR LOCAL MUNICIPALITY – MAJLIS PERBANDARAN KULAI (MPKu)

GIS TRAINING FOR LOCAL MUNICIPALITY

I had the opportunity to deliver a talk on the use of GIS for the local municipality (Majlis Perbandaran Kulai – MPKu). This training lasts for three days from 5-7 December 2022 and is conducted in UTM.

Wish that my knowledge sharing with the GIS unit at MPKu can be fully utilized. We at the university share our knowledge without relying on any particular vendors or software. It is more about giving the fundamental concept of GISc so that the knowledge can be applied in their daily work.

JOURNAL ARTICLE SHARING

This is the 11th journal publication in 2022. Based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2), a Malaysia Smart Cities Stakeholders Adoption Model (MSCSA) was employed as a case study in this research. In-depth interviews with specialists from smart city development agencies were conducted using a mixed-methods research approach. These assessments provide city officials with a mechanism for measuring citizen interest in smart city services and a road map for establishing an efficient smart city plan.

A VISIT FROM TURKIYE

I am very honored when my old friend Prof. Ismail Karas from KARABUK UNIVERSITY – Karabük Üniversitesi Turkiye was willing to pay us a visit at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Our long conversation started from matters related to research, student supervision, cooperation between universities, national governance related to higher education, up to local culture.

Our meeting was short and it feels like there should be continued maybe next time in Turkiye. Thanks for coming İsmail Rakıp Karaş!

FINALLY THEY DID IT!

FINALLY THEY DID IT!

Congratulations to both of my final year Bachelor Degree of Science Geoinformatics students. Finally, they successfully completed their dissertation and defended it during the viva session.

They admitted their previous “wrong moves” caused delays in completing their respective final year projects. I understand, it is a learning process. What is most important is that the experience of making mistakes, is the most valuable.

Congratulations Azbin Fahmi and Natashya! I knew from the start that you two could make it to the finish line.

NEW BOOK RELEASE!!!

NEW BOOK RELEASE

Title: Current Geoinformation Data Management and Challenges
Editors: Uznir Ujang & Zakri Tarmidi
ISBN: 978-983-52-1887-3

Summary:
This book highlights the current data management and challenges in Geoinformation. This book discusses the applications utilizing Geoinformation Science and Technology in solving problems encountered, including environmental management, asset management, securities management, and spatial standards. The book commences with an overview of Geoinformation’s application of data management and analytics. The section next discusses spatial data management and analysis in relation to exhibiting spatio-temporal wave patterns. It then demonstrates how spatial data modelling may be used to visualize urban air pollution. In addition, the book touches on the use of Geoinformation in asset management and the computation of development fees for local governments. Next, the use of 3D models in Geoinformation is discussed. Readable topics also include the readiness of local governments to implement spatial standards and spatial indicators for assessing the environmental sustainability of low-cost housing. The content presented in this book includes a review of case study and 3D modelling of air pollution, integrating Geoinformation with asset management, and integrating spatial analytics in assessing environmental sustainability indicators.

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION – FRONTIERS IN BUILT ENVIRONMENT JOURNAL

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION – FRONTIERS IN BUILT ENVIRONMENT JOURNAL

I wish to extend an invitation to submit a manuscript for the new article collection on “3D City Modelling in Built Environment” for the Frontiers in Built Environment journal.

This collection is being produced in collaboration with Frontiers in Built Environment. All research will be published in Open Access. Additionally, we aim to put together a free ebook of all published manuscripts to provide an up-to-date and comprehensive overview of the latest research developments in the field.

If you would like feedback on a manuscript’s suitability, please submit an abstract (or proposed research overview) by 23 September. As we publish on a rolling basis, you are welcome to submit your final manuscript before the deadline of 22 November. We can also accommodate personal extensions.

You can read more about the collection here: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/44429/3d-city-modelling-in-built-environment#overview.

If you do not wish to participate but know someone who might, please feel free to share this call for participation with your acquaintance.

Many thanks.
