TRANSFORMING URBAN PLANNING WITH 3D TECH!

TRANSFORMING URBAN PLANNING WITH 3D TECH!

We’re pumped to share our latest research, “Analyzing Urban Spatial Distribution in 2D and 3D for Smart City Planning and Zoning,” published in Advances in Geoinformatics Technologies! This study tackles the exciting challenge of making our cities smarter and more efficient.

Cities are getting more complex with high-rise buildings, underground utilities, and diverse land uses. We used both 2D and 3D models to get a clearer picture of urban development, making it easier to plan and zone effectively.

We employed nearest-neighbor analysis to uncover spatial patterns and clustering. Our findings show that 3D models provide way more detail and accuracy than traditional 2D models, revolutionizing how we visualize and plan urban spaces.

This game-changing approach helps urban planners make smarter decisions for sustainable growth. By integrating advanced geospatial techniques, we’re paving the way for resilient, future-ready cities.

REVOLUTIONIZING URBAN GREEN SPACES WITH NOSQL DATABASES

REVOLUTIONIZING URBAN GREEN SPACES WITH NOSQL DATABASES

Our research, “Managing Green Cover in Urban Area Using NoSQL Database,” published in the Advances in Science, Technology & Innovation series! This game-changing study tackles the big challenge of keeping our urban green spaces thriving in fast-growing cities.

Green cover like grass, shrubs, and trees is key to making cities cooler and more livable. We used LiDAR tech to capture amazing 3D point cloud data of these urban green spaces.

We sorted green cover into grass, shrubs, trees, and ground categories. Using NoSQL databases, we managed this huge amount of data effortlessly.

NoSQL databases outperformed traditional ones in handling and querying large datasets. This smart organization helps urban planners make better decisions.

We could easily get sustainability values and other important metrics from the data. Mixing cutting-edge data tech with environmental science, our work can boost urban sustainability big time.

MY RESEARCH ON THE METAVERSE – ANOTHER STEP TOWARDS THE FUTURE OF LEARNING

MY RESEARCH ON THE METAVERSE – ANOTHER STEP TOWARDS THE FUTURE OF LEARNING

My work on the “Virtual 3D Campus for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)” has been cited in the recent paper “UniverseSITy: Applied Learning in a University Metaverse” presented at the International Workshop on Advanced Imaging Technology (IWAIT 2024).

So, what is the metaverse? The metaverse is a collective virtual shared space, merging virtually enhanced physical reality and physically persistent virtual spaces. It’s where digital and physical realities meet, allowing us to engage in ways we’ve only imagined in science fiction.

In practical terms, the metaverse can revolutionize education by providing immersive learning environments. Imagine attending a lecture, conducting experiments, or collaborating with peers from around the world—all in a virtual setting that feels just like being there in person.

However, it’s challenging to convince the older generation in academia about the metaverse. Their understanding often limits to just the digital world, but the metaverse is so much more—it’s an immersive and interactive experience that has the potential to revolutionize education and beyond. It’s fascinating to see how it can transform the way we learn, work, and interact.

But I hope to see positive growth in the understanding and acceptance of the metaverse among my academic circle in the near future. Better late than never.

For more insights into how the metaverse is shaping the future of education and to learn more about my work, feel free to contact me or explore my research further.
