18 Jan 2023- @OfficialMIDA led by Ms. Masni Muhammad, Exec. Dir. Policy Advocacy (Manufacturing), together with Advanced Technology and Research and Development Team, visited UMW Innovation and R&D Centre Sdn. Bhd. (UIRDC), a UMW Group’s wholly-owned subsidiary, in Serendah. Dato’ Abdul Rashid Musa, Group Chief Mobility & Innovation Officer/President, Aerospace Division, UMW Corporation Sdn. Bhd., briefed the delegation and gave them the opportunity to visit the entire UIRDC complex.
UIRDC is part of the UMW’s Group Mobility & Innovation business segment which was established in January 2021 to support UMW Group in accelerating the manufacture of innovative products and processes to provide a competitive advantage to the Group and the automotive industry as a whole.
The centre, which fully embraces the triple-helix model of innovation, engages on R&D and validation projects with SIRIM, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
In line with the Group sustainability agenda, UIRDC has successfully developed and supported the Group in coming out with innovative products such as bio-hydraulic lubricants and Water Reclamation Plant.
