Hari ini telah berlangsung majlis perasmian dan pecah tanah Projek Pembinaan Bangunan Tambahan Hospital Sultanah Maliha, Langkawi yang telah disempurnakan oleh Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia, Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, Sultan Kedah Darul Aman dan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia, Sultanah Maliha Binti Almarhum Tengku Ariff, Sultanah Kedah Darul Aman diiringi oleh YAB Dato’ Seri Haji Muhammad Sanusi Bin Md Nor, Menteri Besar Kedah, YB Khairy Jamaluddin, Menteri Kesihatan dan YB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Menteri Kanan Kerja Raya.Projek ini dilaksanakan untuk menaiktaraf perkhidmatan perubatan sedia ada di Hospital Sultanah Maliha demi kemudahaan dan manfaat kepada penduduk di Pulau Langkawi khususnya dan negeri Kedah amnya. Projek yang dilaksanakan secara Reka dan Bina ini akan memuatkan sebanyak dua ratus dua puluh (220) katil pesakit, menjadikan kapasiti keseluruhan bilangan katil di Hospital Sultanah Maliha sebanyak tiga ratus tiga puluh (330) katil. Sekaligus menjadikan Hospital Sultanah Maliha bertaraf Hospital Pakar Major.Kos kontrak semasa bagi projek ini adalah RM425 juta dengan tempoh pelaksanaan selama 182 minggu, meliputi beberapa skop.Semoga dengan terbinanya Bangunan Tambahan Hospital Sultanah Maliha ini dapat mengurangkan beban penerimaan pesakit untuk pakar rujuk terutamanya di hospitalhospital berdekatan seperti Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim (Kedah) dan Hospital Tuanku Fauziah (Perlis). Pelaksanaan projek ini adalah bukti komitmen kerajaan untuk meningkatkan perkhidmatan kesihatan kepada penduduk di Pulau Langkawi dalam persekitaran yang lebih kondusif, moden dan selesa.
