Pada 17 Mei 2023 (Rabu) Jabatan Kelestarian Kampus MPP UTM JB telah mengadakan satu perjumpaan bersama UTM Fleet bagi membincangkan tentang isu kelewatan perkhidmatan shuttle bas yang sering berlaku.
Hasil dapatan perjumpaan tersebut adalah seperti yang berikut :
- Pihak UTM FLEET dan UTM Digital sedang dalam perancangan bagi mengaktifkan sistem GPS Bas ke dalam UTMSmart.
- Pihak Jabatan Kelestarian Kampus mengambil maklum tentang ketiadaan perkhidmatan shuttle bas pada masa-masa yang tertentu. Namun begitu, kami memerlukan bantuan para mahasiswa/wi untuk memberi maklum balas berkaitan alternatif masa yang diperlukan bagi menyediakan rancangan jadual perkhidmatan shute bas yang lebih baik sesuai dengan keperluan pelajar melalui google form TINJAUAN ADUAN SHUTTLE BAS UTM.
- Perubahan penjadualan shuttle bas juga sedang dirancang dengan sela masa 15 minit bagi meningkatkan kecekapan pergerakan shuttle bas di UTM.
- Jadual perkhidmatan shuttle bas di dalam UTMSmart masih diguna pakai sebagai rujukan mahasiswa/wi. Namun begitu, mahasiswa/wi boleh mengisi google form TINJAUAN ADUAN SHUTTLE BAS UTM yang disediakan sekiranya mempunyai aduan tentang perkhidmatan shuttle bas.
- Semasa cuti semester yang akan datang, sebuah van bagi setiap jam akan disediakan bagi kemudahan kepada para mahasiswa/wi di dalam UTM. Bagi pelajar antarabangsa yang memerlukan perkhidmatan van atau bas anda boleh menghubungi pihak UTMI untuk urusan tempahan yang selanjutnya mengikut keperluan.
- QR code tinjauan aduan shuttle bas UTM juga akan ditampal di kawasan perhentian bas bagi memudahkan para mahasiswa/wi membuat aduan berkaitan perkhidmatan shuttle bas.

Untuk makluman mahasiswa/i, Jabatan Pendidikan Tinggi telah meneliti permohonan berkenaan dengan kelonggaran pemakaian Dasar Pelaksanaan Takwim Peperiksaan dan bersetuju untuk memberikan kelonggaran kepada UTM Johor Bahru untuk mengadakan peperiksaan pada hari Ahad manakala UTM Kuala Lumpur pada hari Jumaat.
Sehubungan dengan itu, kelonggaran ini berkuatkuasa mulai Semester 2 Sesi 2022/2023 dan hanya terpakai bagi penilaian peperiksaan akhir semester sahaja.

Some basic statistical jargons that you should be familiar at the beginning of any analysis are listed below:
Distinguish between population and sample
โข A population is the entire group that you want to draw conclusions about. A sample is the specific group that you will collect data from.
โข Your sample is the group of individuals who participate in your study, and your population is the broader group of people to whom your results will apply.
Descriptive statistics versus inferential statistics
โข Descriptive statistics summarize the characteristics of a data set. Inferential statistics allow you to test a hypothesis or assess whether your data is generalizable to the broader population.
Qualitative variable versus Quantitative variable
โข Data collected about a numeric variable will always be quantitative. Example age, income
โข Data collected about a categorical variable will always be qualitative. Example gender (male and female), location (urban and rural)
Measures of Central Tendency
In statistics, “measures of central tendency” refer to statistical measures that aim to describe the center or value of a data set. These measures provide a summary of the data by focusing on its central location or average value. The three most common measures of central tendency are the mean, median, and mode.
Measures of Dispersion
In statistics, “measures of dispersion” refer to statistical measures that quantify the spread or variability of a data set. While measures of central tendency (such as mean, median, and mode) provide information about the central location of the data, measures of dispersion provide insights into how the data points are spread out or scattered around the central value. The most common measures of dispersion are range, inter-quartile range, variance, and standard deviation.

๐The Materials Lecture Competition 2023 (MLC 2023) is open to any profession/students in Malaysia (except academic staff) aged 28 or below on 1st June 2023. It aims to find the most talented and suitable candidate to represent UTM to National Level in August 2023 (semi – final) and (final), where the champion has a chance to represent Malaysia ๐ฒ๐พ to compete in The Young Personโs World Lecture Competition (YPWLC) in November 2023.

15 minutes presentation and followed by 5 minutes Q&A session on a topic related to Materials or Minerals Science and Engineering.
