Biometrics

Biometrics is the technology that measures and analyzes the unique characteristics or behaviour of a human body. Examples are such as authentication using handprints, fingerprints, iris patterns, voice patterns, signature recognition or facial recognition. A biometric system operates using a device to capture the biometric features, a software to convert the information gathered into digital form, a database that stores the data and a biometric information from a live user to be compared to the stored matching data (Jain et al., 2004).
