Abstract
This paper will be aimed at recounting the role played by Ibn Zuhr and his accomplishment as an important medical contributor in the Islamic domains as well as in the western territories. In so doing, we will utilize a descriptive method by first explaining his family background, which influence his success in the medical profession; second, his life beginning from his childhood up to his demise in 557/1161 and finally ends with the medical contribution with the emphasis on his literary works notably his magnum opus, Taysir fi al-Mudawat wa al-Tadbir. The finding shows that Ibn Zuhr played a pivotal role in the field of medicine.
