“He who knows not, knows not, he is a fool, shun him. He who knows not and he knows not, he is simple, teach him. He who knows and knows not that he knows, he is asleep, awaken him. He who knows and knows that he knows, he is wise, follow him.”
I have not yet found the origin of the above quote whether it’s Arabic or Persian or Chinese and even some said that it’s derived from Bible.
The quote seems familiar to me and my memory keept saying that it’s from one of the Muslim scholars’ works that I’d read some time ago when I was in ISTAC. Is it from Hujjat al-Islam al-Ghazali or al-Imam al-Shafi’i who wrote extensively on ‘aql, knowledge and ignorance? Or is it as some claimed that it is one of the wonderful sayings of Confucius who is also known for his ethusiasm in education?
