Kuala Lumpur, 2nd February 2016 – A meeting between Tsukuba University and Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) was held in UTM Kuala Lumpur.
The objective of the meeting was to discuss opportunities to foster collaboration in promoting student mobility and student exchange programs between Tsukuba University and UTM.
Tsukuba University is very interested in conducting a double / dual degree program with MJIIT. This program is particularly beneficial to highly motivated students who want to pursue a serious interest in a second field. Through this program, students are also able to develop diversity of thinking, foster international management competencies and promote a truly global mindset. The discussion also touched on the issues of credit transfer, where it should not be too rigid in ensuring that the dual degree program can be achieved between the two institutions.
Collaboration opportunities in English language learning was also touched upon. Tsukuba University intends to send their students to experience studying abroad, with UTM becoming a possible destination, as the university believes that studying abroad can strengthen their students’ English language communication skills. Other issues discussed include English Language Proficiency Requirements, student logistics, university facilities and the availability of financial support.
Tsukuba University also welcomes UTM students to the University. They also expressed their wish to consolidate and sustain the Asian Universities Collaboration among the Asian Countries, achieved through UTM MJIIT in collaboration with the Government of Japan.
