Yesterday we had a farewell ceremony for Prof Datin Dr Zaharah Ibrahim; it was held in conjunction with Ihya’ Ramadan. In 2004 when I first joined UTM, she was my KJ (head of dept) & we were still under Dept of Biology, FS. As someone not from the teaching field, I was insecure about my new job (my 1st job after master degree was in research) and of course, the new place & environment. Well, Prof Zaharah’s motherly manner is no stranger to us so she made me feel more than welcome during my first week by involving me in every possible activities. She has been a mentor, a councilor, a superior, an advisor and also a friend. Not to mention all the contributions she made to UTM either when we were under FS then later FBB and now FBME. We will definitely miss her and Prof, you will never be forgotten 🙂
