Today’s story… (in history… 🙂 )
For me it’s historical. Never ever I had experienced this, but I am now, as I am holding this new position.
While I was attending this MKKH workshop Bilik Mesyuarat Fakulti (BMF) in the morning, the fire drill / alarm triggered. Well, it’s another noisy fire drill, I whispered in my heart. I continued my work or rather preparing for the workshop that is about to commence.
Then suddenly, someone, I forgot who, yelled to me, “Zaki, the alarm is ringing, stop it…“.
I responded, “Why me?”
He answered, “You’re the Facility Manager“…
Oh gosh! Yep… So, this is included in my job scope as well? I gulped. Well… here it goes. I checked what to do. Checked the fire alarm panel which happened to be just outside BMF. It’s a huge panel with so many LED indicators linking to so many spaces/rooms in the block (N-01). The light which was intermittently blinking signaled the source of problem was on the 1st floor. Problem is is I don’t know which part of 1st floor.
Then, I turned to the chief clerk (CC), Puan Roziah, which we all refer as Kak Gee. I asked her assistance to contact PHB to come and stop the freaking annoying alarm. Earlier, I also attempted to call the person in charge but that person could not be reached. Since I am supposed to be in the MKKH workshop, I then just asked Kak Gee’s help to keep on trying to call PHB. Then I left and started touring the 1st floor, checking if there is any fire or smoke or something that may have triggered the alarm. I notice nothing. I walked back to BMF, continued the MKKH workshop.
Few minutes after that, the alarm stopped! YES! I bounced from my sit and check out the panel. A guy casually dressed was there, about to close the alarm panel window door. I asked him, “What’s wrong…?”
He responded, it could be anything. Sometimes, due to spider… haha…
I requested that we have a key for the alarm panel door, just in case, the alarm triggered again. He gave it to me and that’s good. I passed it to the CC. So, next time, if the alarm triggered again, we can stop it earlier.
That’s a good progress 🙂 I think…
