Today, I attended and learned more about micro credential program that UTM is planning to do. It’s a very good idea and concept since it provides flexibility for participants to be future students with ease (as the courses that they took before can be counted as a credit subject that he or she has earned). This roadshow will provide an overview of UTM-MC and the steps to develop a MC course. Here are some of the benefits of developing MC courses :
- Opportunity for faculties / schools to develop stackable courses – existing academic courses divided into smaller MC courses.
- UTM students who completed a stackable course may apply for credit transfer.
- Opportunity to develop a stackable course with professional certification – collaboration with industrial partners.
- Opportunity to convert existing short and professional courses to MC courses.
- Opportunity for lecturers to develop any type of courses – for skills development, for public awareness etc.
- Provide flexibility for learners in terms of time and pace.
- Income generation for course developers (up to 80%), schools and faculties.
