SYNOPSIS
This course enables students to develop an advanced knowledge in gas transportation and storage facilities. The course module covers a wide range of scope which includes the flow principles, operation and construction and maintenance. Sustainability of supply and storage system is well reviewed to incorporate state-of-the-art technology. The module also integrates the standards design of transportation system and relevant code of practices. Malaysian standard requirements also are highlighted thoroughly.
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Evaluate the application of hydrocarbon storage and mode of its transportation and storage system based on its design and capability
- Evaluate requirements of pipeline system operating design, the element of pipeline material and component selection, structure system, integrity system, failure type and monitoring systems and operating code and relevant standards
- Analyze flow principles, pressure regulation, metering, network principles, odorisation and operation and maintenance system
- Analyze the principles of leak detection, category, protection method and monitoring systems.
- Analyze the concepts of supply and demand and compare the method of LPG, NG, LNG storage system
- Compare International and Local code, standards, act and regulation in hydrocarbon transportation and storage system
- Participate in a team working group to undertake and as well as prepare reports involving a wide range of group projects.
