Day 284 Tasks – Process Control Mathwork Meeting with other Universities

It’s an off day for me as Friday emerged. But that did not stop us from having this meeting to discuss the realization of preparing and launching a real industry problem to be presented in the Process Control class, not only in UTM, but USM and UMP.

The Zoom meeting which commenced at 9.30am sharp require only 30 minutes and we know what we need to do. It was short, sweet and precise because we already had one or two previous meetings and all the attendees knew the idea of the project.

Day 283 Task – Providing Support for My PA Students

The new semester is around the corner and students are busy registering for their course. I am one of the Academic Advisor for my students (20 of them). Many of them contacted me today to consult for their registration. Since it is Covid-19 Pandemic era and the new norm, massive modification in terms of pre-registration and registration of course are to be implemented.

The conventional method of course modification could no longer apply. A new method of course modification form and approach was just introduced today and as an Academic Advisor, we have to digitally and manually assist our student. Those who wanted to take credit more than 18, now must email me and later on their behalf, I need to get the Chair’s approval and subsequently submit their approved forms to the Academic Office.

Day 282 Task – My Student Presented at ICCME2020 Conference, UNDIP, Indonesia

I could not believe this. Last week, I was just involved and directly involved in RCEE2020, as organizer, chairman, participant etc. This week, the International Conference on Chemical and Material Engineering (ICCME2020) appeared and we participated in it. Luckily my student Nor Fatin Farihah Mohd Yusof has done a good job writing a paper which later will be published in a scopus indexed journal. She also prepared and presented her research titled Thermodynamic Analysis of Glycerol-Methane Steam Reforming to Hydrogen in this conference just now.

I am happy and proud that she has done a great job in this research, considering she’s an undergraduate student and given the opportunity to present in an international conference and publishing a manuscript in a journal early in the PSM2 stage. What an amazing achievement! She’s not stopping there because she has prepared a second paper that I am checking and will be published in another conference or journal soon. InsyaAllah.

Day 281 Task – Working in the Lab – GC Resurrection

I recently was given with this GC by a very generous academician. This GC-TCD/FID is an Agilent made model 6890N. It was a 2002 built. It has not been used for many years and now it is under me. My challenge now is to get it up and in operation. Off course there will be some servicing that need to be done and I have consulted with my usual GC guy. Unfortunately, I cannot meet him tomorrow due to suddenly we were asked to quarantine. Well, it is ok… InsyaAllah this GC will be up soon. I have faith.
