2021 Day 75 Tasks – Refinery and Petrochemical Technology First Class This Semester

It’s the first week of the new semester and I held my first Refinery and Petrochemical Technology today starting from today for every Wednesday. The class was great and I was glad to have great internet line. There were all together 32 students in my class.

2021 Day 70 Tasks – Checking my MKKK Student Disertation

I have quite a few tasks in line and one of it is this Thermodynamic study that my student is working for. It was a real challenge to read, review this manuscript because of some reason that I do not prefer to reveal here. But, Alhamdulillah, I managed to read and comment professionally. I hope my student will learn and improve his / her work and will produce a magnificent thesis. By the way, his work has already been accepted to be presented in an international conference that will take place soon.

2021 Day 68 Tasks – Filling up and Submission of Individual Webometrics Award Form

I saw the advertisement in my mailbox few days ago and I took this opportunity to apply again for the Individual Webometric Award. Since this award was listed several years back, perhaps around 2015 (if not mistaken), I never won it at UTM level. The best I did was as the finalist on the debut of the award in Citra Karisma.
For Faculty level, if I remembered correctly I won twice. Lets see how my luck is this time around at 2021 Citra Karisma Award.
I also viewed the webminar about ProctorU that was presented by Dr. Nihra from UTMlead. While viewing the video, I also signed up ProctorU account. I still have plenty of things to explore and learn with regard of ProctorU.

2021 Day 66 Tasks – Plant Design Project Briefing for SV

The highlight for today is the Plant Design Project Briefing that I will be the supervisor beginning next week. It’s kind of ironic because I was the Head Coordinator for this Capstone Course for 2019 and 2020. But then since I was recently appointed as The Director for CEE, I was lifted from becoming the Coordinator for this 4-credit course.

- Continue working on SCEE RAE form
- Edit and completed IJET Bioreactor Computer Cooperative Learning Support paper.
- Checking and approving my PA students (2 of them) extra curricular activities for EXCEL program.
- Checking minutes of meeting for RCEE2021 1st meeting and CEE 3rd meeting.
- Checking Wirda’s manuscript (Pak Didi’s student).
2021 Day 65 Tasks – Entering CEE Director’s Office for the 1st Time

I was officially appointed to be the new Director for CEE, UTM on the 1st of February 2021. But then, it was the pandemic era and we are asked to work from home and because of that I have not been to my new office. However, the permission to WFH has been lifted on the 5th of March 2021 and all UTM staffs have to come to workplace for work.
So here I am at my new office. I did a little bit of cleaning and arranging which took 30 minutes or so. Subsequently I continued to work.

2021 Day 64 Tasks – Mock Presentation 1st Stage MKKK for my Master Student

2021 Day 63 Tasks – Miscellaneous Post Graduate Students Matters

The fact that it is a Friday allowed me to relax a bit today. After all, I have been working very hard, almost non-stop since since several weeks. I need some break and once in a while breaking my daily pattern. I did not immediately work in the morning as usual, but I pampered myself with waking up a bit late… haha…
After that, I woke up and strategize my day. I started by listing down tasks to do for today while waiting for my laptop to stabilize after I switched it on (it’s a 7 year old laptop and it takes time for it to get ready after i pressed the on button).
I checked Efa’s (my full time research master student) abstract again, after my other half corrected it yesterday. It looked simple but it really is not that simple. Need to carefully check both English and Malay version of the abstract. After completing it I emailed it back to Efa.
Other highlighted official tasks of the day:
- Checked Wirda’s paper for the 3rd time (Pak didi’s student).
- Checked and commented ABSI’s (my Master Mixed-mode student) presentation slide since he’ll be presenting his 1st stage this coming Sunday).
- Fast scan AbdelRahim’s (my Engineering Education PhD student from Egypt/Sudan) Chapter 1 draft, but still need to read in great detail tomorrow.
- Passed Ammaru’s thesis to Sham for references on the analysis part.
- Communicated with Anwar Hazeem (my ex-MKKH master student from 2017) on his new manuscript project.
- Hosted Zaqwan who visited us at our home after Friday prayers. He wanted to consult about IEM Mentorship.
