Site Technical Visit & Discussion at IIFCO (MALAYSIA) SDN BHD

Site Technical Visit & Discussion at IIFCO Pasir Gudang. Amazing plant, great continuous learning process for us.

IFFCO (MALAYSIA) SDN BHD is an integrated oleo-chemical complex in Malaysia, which feeds downstream state-of-the-art soap noodle and finishing plants. Their soap products and soap noodle intermediates cater to local needs as well as requirements of markets in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Far East. IIFCO joint venture with Dalquim, Brazil produces rumen protected fats for animal feed nutrition.

Didn’t expect to meet my ex-student, Rashiqah, who is now a process engineer in IIFCO. Will be back here soon.

MKKK1653 – Active Learning Application

Today, we conducted Active Learning (AL) for our Master MKKK1653 – Chemical Plant and Safety. There were 10 students altogether and they were divided to 3 groups. We assigned 3 expert teams and they meet up in the expert team meeting (Jigsaw application).

The topic that was used for this AL application is Introduction to Relief.

Penilaian Tender UPMU Done For Today

Alhamdulillah selesai satu task penting amanah Universiti petang tadi.

Ramblings of a Chemical Engineer – Get Ready for My First Book :)

There is a reason for this. There is a reason why I write this book. The reason is similar to why I started my Chemical Engineering World blog 13 years ago. I wanted to share experiences and informal knowledge of a practicing engineer.

This book will be ready somewhere in August.

“Learn something about chemical engineering that is not inside your text book”, that has always be my tagline.

Stay tune to capture the adventure of a chemical engineer. Get updates from my FB Chemical Engineering World Page.

Happy Father’s Day Ayah…

Ayah…

Engkau seorang insan yang mulia,
Seorang insan yang istimewa,
Insan yang sangat ku kagumi,
Akan sentiasa ayah di hati ini.
Sungguh besar pengorbananmu,
Kau tetap teguh demi anak-anakmu,
Tidak pernah mengenal erti penat lelah,
Demi membesarkan anak-anakmu,
Apa saja sanggup kau lakukan.

Ayah…

Namun aku yakin mampu memikulnya,
Kerana ayah menjadi idolaku,
Ku yakin kuat sepertimu ayah.

Ayah…

Aku kini seorang Chemical Engineer,
Kerana pengaruh buku-buku kimia organik ayah,

Ayah..

Masih terngiang dulu ayah sering belikan majalah Dewan Pelajar, Bambino & Kuntum,
Teringat juga ketika ayah pasrah membeli raket badminton Pro Kennex di Changi Airport kerana rengekanku,
Juga masih terimbau ayah belikan Perry’s Chemical Engineering Handbook import direct dari Amerika,
Juga kereta pertama bernombor plate tarikh lahirku sendiri,
Aku minta maaf kerana membuat ayah risau pening susah atas kemalangan akibatku 1991 dulu…

Ayah…

Terima kasih atas segala pengorbananmu,

Faculty of Chemical Engineering with Advisory Industry Panel (AIP) Workshop

The above mentioned workshop was held in Hotel Premiera, Kuala Lumpur from 7th to 8th March 2015 with an objective to improve the Chemical Engineering undergraduate curriculum. 6 Industry panels participated in the workshop alongside with the top management of the faculty as well as the head of subject panels.

It was indeed a fruitful workshop as significant improvement was agreed and made during the workshop. New chemical engineering students for intake 2016 will see a better option in the new feature that could provide extra specialization or expertise.

What is Proximate Analysis and Ultimate Analysis

What is Proximate Analysis?

Proximate analysis is a way to determine the distribution of products when the samples are heated under specified conditions.

From: Fuel Flexible Energy Generation, 2016

What is Ultimate Analysis?

Ultimate Analysis Tests. Ultimate analysis tests produce more comprehensive results than the proximate analyses. SGS uses the results from ultimate analysis tests to determine the elemental composition of the coal including moisture, ash, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur, and oxygen (by difference).
