2021 Day 166 Task – Micro-Credential Course Development Workshop

To be frank, there are 2 days back to back event that I wanted to participate since yesterday, which is OFIC2021 and also the Micro-Credential Course Development Workshop – both of which takes place whole day yesterday and today. I had to attend the Micro-Credential Course, and luckily I can get the recording session for OFIC 2021 from the organizer.

  • Academic Advisor – pre registration matter.
  • Communicated with CERD Editor on the possibility to submit article there.
  • SCEE RAE Program Week 7 meeting with team @ 5pm.
  • CEO #07 meeting @ 9pm.
  • Corrected final exam paper as instructed by Head of Department.

2021 Day 165 Task – Attended Virtual OFIC 2021

As I got the free pass to join Virtual Oil and Fats International Conference 2021 (OFIC 2021), I did not miss the opportunity. I participated in this program to learn more about the recent development surrounding the palm oil industry. OFIC 2021 is organized my Malaysia Oil Scientist and Technologies Association (MOSTA)

How I get the free access?

2021 Day 164 Task – Attended to BCREC Draft Correction and Submission

Finally the correction for this paper has been completed after Nazlina successfully submitted her PhD correction. The content of this paper came from her Thesis’s Chapter 4 and 6, which contributed up to 39 pages of the word document. Wow… That’s really a lot. We hope that this manuscript will be beneficial and of great contribution to the advancement of this technology.

The title of the paper is : Development of Microwave-Assisted Sulfonated Glucose Catalyst for Biodiesel Production from Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD)

Update: Just received an email from BECREC Editor on the 15th of June — Alhamdulillah — [BCREC-ICSEC] Final Decision of Your Manuscript [Ms ID: BCREC-2021-10520].

2021 Day 161 Task – Checking My EER PhD Student’s Proposal

I spent my Friday morning and afternoon checking and providing comments on my PhD EER Student who is very far far away at UAE or Sudan or United States (yes, he lives in all those places and travel a lot in between those locations). Prior to reading the report and progress, I also read several more completed PhD EER projects by previous CEE students. It’s quite different from the normal chemical engineering research… I can say it is more directed to the social sciences approach. But, I finally written down my comments and passed it to the Co-SVs.

2021 Day 159 Task – Webminar: Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SOTL) by Prof. Dr. Chen Chwen Jen

This webinar is meant for academics who would like to improve student learning by performing systematic inquiry into their existing teaching and learning practices. It focuses on the WHAT, WHY, WHO, HOW and WHERE aspects of SoTL. It provides an overview of SoTL origin, the different types and focuses of SoTL practices as well as the significance of practising SoTL in a higher education institution. The webinar also includes the process of designing and/or refining a SoTL investigation, which involves the framing of research questions, determining methodologies to gather and analyse evidence as well as identifying channels for knowledge dissemination.

2021 Day 158 Task – Exploring and Preparing Quizziz for my Class

I always wanted to explore and venture into new things, new ways, new methods for my teaching and learning. Finally it was time that I decided to attempt using Quizziz. Actually there are plenty of other online platforms that amazingly support the teaching and learning. I will try one by one. InsyaAllah.

But before actually running the Quizzez with my students, I tested the system several times with my family. Also tested it using Webex and so on. Alhamdulillah it’s good. This is very important – multiple rehearsal.

2021 Day 157 Task – AIP Proceedings Copyright Agreement for RCEE2020 Paper

It’s an official off day today as it is our King’s birthday. It’s good to have an off day like this. So, I can focus on several pending tasks and assignments without the interruption of meetings or class etc. My main task is to settle the matter for our recently publish and presented paper to RCEE2020. We will now handle the matters to publish the papers to AIP Conference Proceeding.

  • Checked and commented on PSM student weekly research progress.
  • Add new references to IJET paper as per requested (since we lack of certain reference).
  • Went through some of the lessons under SCEE RAE Week 6.
  • Sign in AIP Scopus Proceeding for our RCEE2020 papers.

2021 Day 156 Task – Chemical Engineering

Dengan sukacitanya,pihak Jabatan TNCPI berhasrat ingin mengadakan program JERAYAWARA BLUEPRINT PENYELIDIKAN & INOVASI 2025 yang akan disertai oleh Pejabat TNCPI dan entiti perkhidmatan di bawah JTNCPI. Objektif program ini adalah:

i. Menyampai dan menyebarluas maklumat berkaitan visi, misi, strategi dan inisiatif Blueprint Penyelidikan dan Inovasi UTM 2025 kepada warga UTM.
ii. Mendapatkan maklum balas dari warga UTM berkaitan dengan strategi dan inisiatif Blueprint Penyelidikan dan Inovasi UTM 2025.
iii. Mengadakan perbincangan khusus bersama pentadbir Fakulti dan PTJ bagi memastikan keberkesanan pelaksanaan strategi dan inisiatif Blueprint Penyelidikan dan Inovasi UTM 2025.
iv. Meninjau dan mengumpul maklumat berkaitan dengan kemudahan dan fasiliti makmal penyelidikan serta penyelidikan yang berpotensi bagi perancangan pelaksanaan strategi dan inisiatif Blueprint Penyelidikan dan Inovasi UTM 2025 (terutama Signature Research Area) dan program AIMS4STAR.

The above program is the highlight of the day and I attended it in view of my capacity as CEE Director, as all directors, CEOs as part of the DVCRI Team to present the road show.

  • Go through coffee table book.
  • Extended Abstract RCEE2021.
  • Evaluated Final Exam for Environmental Management MKKH1513.
  • Assisted the preparation of Contract Research Proposal for CPO recovery at Palm Oil Mill.
  • Started the search for new references for IJET paper (co-authored with Nazrul).
  • Final checked on the PhD correction of Nazlina and all SV signed her corrected Thesis.
  • Submitted Contract Grant LOA into Radis System, and Alhamdulillah, by the end of the day, the grant has been approved. Alhamdulillah.
  • Received CV template from WS Ho.
  • Completed reading Book Muhammad till page 100.

2021 Day 155 Task – Chemical Engineering Research and Design Journal Submissions

Today, Alhamdulillah it is better than yesterday in terms of the number and quality of tasks that I performed. I have planned and listed carefully some of the tasks I need to accomplish today and I am pleased with my performance although I channeled nearly 4 hours of my productive working time on something else. That something else was spending quality time with my family 🙂 . Anyway, I managed to submit 2 manuscript to the Chemical Engineering Research and Design (CERD) Journal. I hope it will be accepted.. Please pray for me, insyaAllah.

2021 Day 154 Task – BCREC Manuscript Review

The weekend arrived again. Honestly, today was not as productive as other weekend in terms of my official task is concern. Nevertheless, it’s fine. Sometimes we need time to relax, rest, rejuvenate and so on. Once I saw the email from BCREC, I immediately accepted the offer to review it. Among the reasons to accept reviewing manuscripts are I can learn what others are doing and I can also contribute to the betterment of the scientific community. InsyaAllah
