It is indeed a cool rainy weekend today. The atmosphere in the mosque also seems to be quite gloomy and dark, and that’s why the lights have to be switched on. Luckily I managed to get a spot in the main hall and listed tentatively to the Imam’s khutbah. It was about believing to the Big 4 Imams. Me and my family, we follow Imam Syafiee. So far so good. Alhamdulillah. Syukur.
Simple Act to Help, Do your Part…
Zuhair, a final year chemical engineering student from my faculty shared a simple yet informative information about 8 hazardous chemicals detected a Sim Sim river, Pasir Gudang, Johor.
He prepared the notes in Bahasa Malaysia to help dwellers in affected areas (and others) know, learn and aware about the tremendous danger from the chemicals.
What Zuhair has done yesterday was spot on when there was no proper explanation or elaboration on the 8 hazardous chemicals explained publicly in a simple version, which could be clearly understood by normal people.
His notes was shared and viraled, and detected by a local newspaper. The newspaper published his notes. It can be seen in the link below:

Well done Zuhair Ozil 🙂
For the rest of us, lets contribute whatever we can… such as…
– Solat hajat & prayers
– Donations (money, time, energy, food etc)
– Knowledge & expertise
– Volunteer work of any kind
– Advice, suggestions etc formally to authority
– or anything to help…
In short, lets hope and pray all the best for Pasir Gudang speedy recovery.
In a different note, we condemned the massive terrorist attact in New Zealand earlier today. May Allah protect us all. Amin.

Hands on Lab Work?
Today, I entered the lab, not to monitor or to check but to do some tiny bit of experimental work. It has been such a long time since my PhD that I didn’t do any lab work. Well, it is mainly because I am venturing into a new research area. I was there at the lab with my Master and Undergraduate research students.
MKKK1653 – Active Learning Application
Today, we conducted Active Learning (AL) for our Master MKKK1653 – Chemical Plant and Safety. There were 10 students altogether and they were divided to 3 groups. We assigned 3 expert teams and they meet up in the expert team meeting (Jigsaw application).
The topic that was used for this AL application is Introduction to Relief.

Pakej Tidak Terduga
All the best in your future undertaking.
International Conference on Low Carbon Asia 2018 (ICLCA 2018) Story (24-25th OCTOBER 2018)
Photo session after the official opening ceremony of ICLCA 2018 😙
Alhamdulillah, ICLCA 2018 main event went smoothly well for today and yesterday. I am not in the committee but quite a number of my colleagues including my other half are the key committee members. I somehow played a small role as the Master of Ceremony for the first half or the first day opening session (opening speech, plenary talks and forum) as well as the co-chair for one of the parallel sessions. Thanks to the organising committee for giving me the opportunity to contribute in this awesome international event 🙂 .
Eventhough i didn’t personally present in this conference, i have 2 of my PhD students presenting 2 technical papers each (total of 4 papers). Alhamdulillah.
Earlier before the conference, my other half suggested to showcase and promote my book in ICLCA 2018. Hmmm… It was indeed an amazing idea that i haven’t thought and imagined before. Fortunately the organising committee was very positive on the idea and they were sporting and very encouraging. So the books were displayed on a section of the registration table. Redhuan, my other half’s master student took care and help managed my books. Thanks bro 😉 .

Inspiring Story from Nelson Mandela
*”NELSON MANDELA, former SOUTH AFRICAN PRESIDENT, wrote a personal awesome story”:*
*After I became PRESIDENT, I asked one day some members of my close protection to stroll with me in the city, have lunch at one of its restaurants. We sat in one of the downtown restaurants and all of us asked for some sort of food…_*
*After a while, the waiter brought us our requests, I noticed that there is someone sitting in front of my table waiting for food.*
*I told then one of the soldiers: Go and ask that person to join us with his food and eat with us. The soldier went and asked the man so. The man brought up his food and sat by my side as I asked and began to eat. His hands were trembling constantly until everyone had finished their food and the man went. The soldier said to me: the man was apparently quite sick. His hands trembled as he ate!!!*
*”No, not at all,” said MANDELA.*
*”This man was the GUARD of the PRISON where I was JAILED.*
*Often, after the torture I was subjected to, I USED TO SCREAM and ASK for A LITTLE WATER.*
*”The very same man used to come every time and URINATE ON MY HEAD INSTEAD”…;*
*so I found him scared, trembling, expecting me to reciprocate now, at least in the same way, either by torturing him or imprisoning him as I AM NOW THE PRESIDENT of the STATE OF SOUTH AFRICA…*
*”BUT THIS IS NOT MY CHARACTER NOR PART OF MY ETHICS”!!!.*
*The MENTALITY of RETALIATION DESTROYS STATES, while the MENTALITY of TOLERANCE BUILDS NATIONS.*
*”The WEAK can NEVER FORGIVE … FORGIVENESS is the attribute of the STRONG”.*
