2021 Day 138 Task – SCEE RAE Hub Meeting #1 in Week #3

The SCEE RAE Weekly Appointment will be held tomorrow and from Week #2 instructions, we were asked to have a meeting to discuss about one of the activity which was the Moon Landing Scenario. It was quite interesting to have 5 out of 6 of us discussing about the Moon Landing scenario.

Following is the instruction of the assignment:

Scenario

You are a member of a space crew scheduled to rendezvous with a mother ship on the lighted surface of the moon. However, due to mechanical difficulties, your own ship was forced to land at a spot 200 miles from the rendezvous point.

During re-entry and landing, much of the equipment aboard was damaged and, since survival depends on reaching the mother ship, the most critical items available must be chosen for the 200-mile trip.

15 items are listed as being intact and undamaged after landing. Your task is to rank them in terms of their importance for your crew, to allow them to reach the rendezvous point. Place the number 1 by the most important item, the number 2 by the second most important, and so on through to number 15 for the least important.

Instructions

1. Look over the list of salvaged items below and think about their importance to your crew.

  • Box of matches
  • Food concentrate
  • 50 feet of nylon rope
  • Parachute silk
  • Two .45 calibre pistols
  • One case of dehydrated milk
  • Two 100-pound tanks of oxygen
  • Stellar map
  • Self-inflating life raft
  • Magnetic compass
  • Five gallons of water
  • Signal flares
  • First aid kit containing injection needles
  • Solar-powered FM receiver
  • Portable heating unit

2. Download the ‘Moon Landing Ranking Sheet’ attached below. Write down your rankings in the first column – it is important that you write your answers down.

Please do not discuss them with anyone else on the course. This activity will then be built upon during this week’s Live Workshop.

This is indeed a long pending task that I have to do since last December 2020. Unfortunately, I procrastinated on this tasks. Today I forced myself to work on this project. It is actually a contract research grant i was given from Centre for Engineering Education (CEE) and the short title of this research is “Identity of an Engineer”, which is non-techie, non-chemical engineering but important for capacity building of an engineer.

2021 Day 135 Task – From JB to Seri Iskandar to JB

First things first. I have not done any official task work for today. Me and my wife we traveled from JB just before 7 am to Seri Iskandar Perak and back to JB again, reached around 6.45pm. We sent our son Ikhwan to UiTM Seri Iskandar Campus as he is requested to pursue a face to face study.

Long trip… but Alhamdulillah, Allah protect us throughout the journey. Syukur.

2021 Day 134 Task – The Lemang Project – 3rd Day Eid

Today is a wonderful Saturday, also the 3rd day of Eid. I suffered a massive stomach ache due to some eating or food problem. Half of the night was spent in the toilet. Nevertheless, after recovering a bit, I joined the Lemang Project that was done just in the vicinity of our residential area.

But it is imperative to highlight that I did not do any official task today. The day was busy with Lemang, Surau and family activities 🙂 .

2021 Day 131 Task – Green Lab Report Evaluation

I am one of the Green Hero Committee member at the School of Chemical and Energy Engineering (SCEE), UTM. I have been involved in several rounds of audit and checking of selected blocks and buildings in the vicinity of SCEE. Today, I completed the final task which is to complete the evaluation of Green Lab Report of one of the research center – in this case I was assigned to evaluate Prospect at N29.

I submitted my review manuscript to BCREC yesterday. Unfortunately, the submission got some problem, which is shown as below:

Dear Dr Zaki,

2021 Day 128 Task – Visited and Donated to Asnaf at Kempas Area

Our Surau (Surau-Al-Taqwa), led by Ustaz Mohd Ismail Musytari today visited 2 groups of Asnafs that are living in a very poor conditions, located at Kempas. Eight of us travelled in 2 cars attended to the 2 asnafs. We brought foods and also cash, that were donated by Jemaah Surau. The first Asnaf are a couple that lives in a land, more like a forest for about 7 years. They were 75 and 69 years, old respectively. The wife is diagnosed with kidney problem and hence have to undergo dialysis 3 times a week – and this incur massive cost. They are lucky because a generous person built a small proper brick house for them which can be dwelled by them 1 month ago. There were so many tiny mosquito around the asnaf’s house but we did not hit the mosquito aggressively to respect the asnaf. Oh gosh.. the condition these people live in are indeed very poor and sad.

The second asnaf was a single guy who nearly reaches 70 years old. He lives alone in a poorly constructed place he deemed as his house. I sneak peaked into his house and saw that the floor is actually the same soil outside of his house. Basically, there’s no proper flooring. We gave this old man dry foods and also cash.
