Day 250 Task – Perfecting Abstract and Graphical Abstract for My Review Paper

It was not a good Saturday start as I pampered myself lazily. But I know I really needed a piece of break from my hectic career life and super weirdo interest. I tried to use the late morning to perfect my abstract and graphical abstract for my review paper. This paper was prepared by my master student and it is really a very long paper. It also took me a while to check and finalize this. I will be continuing this work and feel positive to submit this manuscript within this week. InsyaAllah.

Day 249 Task – Reviewed Another BCREC Journal Manuscript

Today, I squeezed my weekend wonderful time to complete another review assigned to me the day before from Prof Dr. Istadi from BCREC journal. Luckily the paper was interesting and really falls within my expertise. The real bonus was that the paper was not that long, it was short and sweet and I managed to provide a review of my comments and decision swiftly.
I realized that the future will see me reviewing more and more manuscripts. At the same time, I am already an editor for AJEE journal. Hence, I need to develop the skill to read and capture the content of a journal fast. InsyaAllah I will do my best for that.

Day 248 Task – RCEE Workshop, RCEE Meeting, Mathwork Meeting and OBE Meeting

Today’s tasks were all surrounded around CEE activities. All of them are crucially very important. The morning workshop is imperative to finalized the submitted RCEE2020 paper by the authors so that it fulfills the IEEE requirement. Subsequently we had a meeting to discuss on the RCEE2020 schedule and program. I received a number of new tasks, which I hope I can soon manage.
After lunch, it was immediately another meeting which commenced at 2pm. For this Mathwork Problem Project, I also received another assignment that needed to be done ASAP.
For the 4pm OBE Meeting, luckily I am not deeply involved since I am just a facilitators and I am still learning the OBE stuffs.

Day 247 Task – ICLCA2020 Day 2 – Presenting Another Paper

It’s the second day of ICLCA2020 conference. I have another paper that will be presented by my undergraduate student, Nasyitah Mahbob. Unfortunately she could not make it to standby for the question and answer session. Hence, I have to standby for the presentation and questions and answers. To cut short, everything was ok, nice and smooth. The questions were all answered by me, hopefully the people asking the questions are happy.

Day 246 Task – All focus on ICLCA2020 – 1st Day Action

Today is the day. It is ICLCA2020 Conference Day. Due to Pandemic, the conference have been changed to a virtual one. I have several important roles for the conference today, which are:
- Updating the ICLCA2020 FB Page with screenshots from Zoom during various ICLCA2020 sessions.
- Participated in the Poster session as my paper (under my PhD student) is presented.
- Chairman of the 6th parallel session alongside with PM Dr. Zurina Mohamad.
It was indeed a busy day for me, virtually.

Day 245 Task – Checking, Reading & Proof reading my Master Student Thesis

Today is the independence day of Malaysia. It has been 63 years since we celebrated our victory and freedom. It’s a public holiday here in our country.
Although it was a holiday, I was rushing to read my Master Student’s thesis. I would always prefer not to delay any thesis or proposal checking, paper reviewing etc. Luckily I have gone through her thesis between May and June, which was my first round of reading her thesis and have corrected it massively. Hence, this round, my reading was significantly faster than before as the mistakes were far less, few tiny problems or issues that I may have missed before. It’s very important for me to read her thesis so that we’ll minimize any problems during the VIVA session, which has not been confirmed yet. All the best to my master student… and me 🙂

Day 244 Task – Completing the Teaching Excellent System (TES)

Among all the activities today, I would like to highlight my experience in filling up the Teaching Excellent System (TES) which has been made compulsory to all academic staff of UTM since last year.
All of us need to upload the Course Information (CI) for all courses, Example of notes, Example of quiz/test, Final Exam Questions and the solution script as well.
Apart from that, we also need to upload our teaching philosophy etc and also testimonial from students.
