2022 Day 36 Task – Writing Impact Study for ASEE Paper

It was actually unexpected for me to be part of the team lead by Prof Khairiyah to write a paper to be submitted to a prestigious conference in Engineering Education that is American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) conference. The quality of papers presented in ASEE is of the highest quality and it is truly engineering education at its core level.

The title of the Abstract prepared to be submitted by our team is “The 21st Century Learning and Teaching: Malaysian Perception and Direction”. The final topic maybe the same or if there is any changes, it may not be that much.

My part is to write on the Impact and Significance of Study. It’s challenging but I am up to it. I know I must write it carefully and meaningfully as the audience for this conference is massive and those who are in the engineering education research line.

And yes, this is a wonderful Saturday, where suddenly at 8am, my UNIFI Broadband went down and we are not connected. Had to call Unifi Technician to rectify our internet.

Other tasks of today:

  • SCEE proposal
  • Update CV

2022 Day 34 Task – 4th Workshop of 2022: MALAYSIA NGINEERING PROGRAM DIRECTION

2022 Day 33 Task – Checked Stage 3 Draft Report of My Students

It’s still an off day here as the Chinese New Year Celebration is still on. Nevertheless, pending works are still counting and it needed to be completed. One of it is the Stage 3 – Safety and Health 2021 (S&H2021) report for my ITE and ISP Section 05 that should receive our comments before they submit it this coming Sunday.

Other tasks for the day:

I wish they were… but I was still in holiday mood as well.

2021 Day 271 Task – Evaluating Internship Student

I have a practicing engineer before and by volunteering myself as the supervisor for practical student (internship) training, I am allowed to revisit a number of industry even though it is now conducted virtually.

Today, I invigilated and assessed my academic advisee student named Nuurfatihah Nazihah Sakhon who successfully conducted her practical training at Uro Technology Sdn. Bhd. It was a company that manufactures catheter that is used to flow out fluid from human blader.

Other tasks of the day:

  • JERAYAWARA (ROADSHOW) SISTEM PENGURUSAN KUALITI (SPK) FAKULTI KEJURUTERAAN BAGI PROSEDUR OPERASI KE SKA, SKM DAN SKT
  • RCEE2021 Scientific Committee Meeting
  • RCEE2021 ITE-ISP-ICP paper meeting

Due to the earlier pre-scheduled meetings I had today, I could not attend 3 more programs which are (a) NTU Annual Learning and Teaching Conference: from Good to Great 2021 from National Technical University Singapore; (b) WORKSHOP ON UTM CAMPUS SUSTAINABILITY GOVERNANCE FRAMEWORK 2030; and also (c) CREG Meeting to discuss on running a Webinar.

It’s tough when there are too many events or programs per day. When this happen, I just need to prioritize whichever is the most important and require me to be there more importantly.

2021 Day 242 Task – House Keeping of Koperasi Surau Bestari

From yesterday’s meeting, one of the conclusion is to come and do a house keeping and re-organize the Koperasi building before we can pass it to the new business entity to run. Alhamdulillah we gathered at the building at 11am and did some house keeping and stock take count.

The process was not that long as the premise is small and there were not many stocks at the moment. In Syaa Allah we hope that tomorrow the business can have an introductory opening.

2021 Day 241 Task – Koperasi Surau Bestari Meeting

I’m the Chair for Koperasi Surau Bestari since September 2019. The initial story when I was just appointed was exciting as we managed to boost up and make our Koperasi business activity lively. However came covid-19 in March and we have to pause the business.

Recently, a jemaah from our surau expressed his interest to rent facility and some space in our Koperasi building. In conjunction to his intention, there was an agreement draft. I realized that this could be a massive decision for me to decide on. Hence I called for a Koperasi meeting to discuss on the matter carefully with other Ahli Lembaga Koperasi (ALK).

We had a fruitful meeting and we decided to support the intention of Hj Mus, who want activate the business. However, ALK provided alternative proposal which is to protect both Hj Mus and Koperasi business interest. The decision was the best that we can produce in this period of time. Please pray that the business will grow and benefit Koperasi Surau Bestari and also Hj Mus. In Syaa Allah.

2021 Day 240 Task – Consortium Grant Meeting UTM-UPM-UTHM

After having our Consortium Meeting UTM level last Thursday (I did not make a post on this because I highlighted the OBE Workshop), today we gathered in a bigger group with our UPM and UTHM counterpart. The meeting commenced at 2.30pm, hosted by Prof. Khairiyah using her Zoom account.

Dr. Farah presented on behalf of UTM’s progressed, which was more on our progress on developing the Code Book etc.

2021 Day 239 Task – Merdeka Virtual Chess Competition

As much as I would target and do my official tasks for today, I failed to do it. I realized I have plenty of pending tasks hanging around my back. But today, the first half of the day was focused on a virtual chess competition that I participated in. It was my first time participating in a virtual chess competition. I felt really nervous and targeted only to win 1 game out of 7 games. It turned out that I managed to won 2 games and I was ranked number 143 out of 163 participants. If I am ranked like this when I was studying long long time ago, I will feel super miserable. But luckily, this is just a chess game and I am very amazed with many the majority of the participants who are very excellent in the Chess game, a strategist game.

Those who are very good in Chess could be from various background. I take for example, my uncle from Kedah. He did not excel academically and he is a trailer / bus driver. But, I never managed to bit him in a chess game. He has his vision, strategic move, manage to create plenty of illusion to make me think differently. My simple conclusion is chess master greatness is not proportional with ones cognitive intelligence.
