As an internal examiner to Dr. Muhammad Tahir’s Student which I became earlier this February 2020, I have to check and approve his improvement and correction made in his dissertation. I took some time to review and check the correction made of his thesis titled “PHOTOCATALYTIC WATER SPLITTING OVER TITANIUM ALUMINIUM CARBIDE ASSISTED RUTHENIUM WITH GRAPHITIC CARBON NITRIDE FOR HYDROGEN PRODUCTION”.

Since I have received a lot of invitation to review manuscripts from various conferences and journals, and to not all of those get pending and accumulated, I decided to do all reviews that I have up till today once and for all. And because of that I first half of the day, just to for reviewing all manuscripts invitations.
At the end of the day, I managed to review the following:
Pheewww…
It’s part of my duty to ensure AJEE Volume 4, Issue 1 is successfully published online. I have this pending for quite sometime but today I need to deal with it once and for all. AJEE Volume 4, Issue 2 will have to come out end of this year. So, this need definitely no more delays.
Luckily Izzati and Faizah from the Centre for Engineering Education helped me on the formatting and online publishing area. Click here to view AJEE Volume 4, Issue 1.

The first half of today is really an intense one since we’ll be evaluating 11-12 students on their Undergraduate Research Project Proposal. The session starts at 8.30am till 12.30pm straight. All of these presentations were conducted online using Webex. Apparently I am the host and together with me, the panels were Prof Dr Khairiyah Mohd Yusof, Dr. Hashim Hassan and Dr. Muhammad Arif. Alhamdulillah the session was smooth and we managed to complete everything on time.
All students managed to present smoothly during the online webex session. Bravo. Congrats all!

A lot of my official tasks yesterday were not completed due to a relatively unproductive day. I was just relaxing, watching TV and entertaining myself with kids. I only did minor ICLCA Paper editing, but not completed. Today, I am going to ensure I complete more than 7 Tasks (based on my 7 Tasks Rules). Pray for me yeah…
Among the tasks I performed today:

Today is a wonderful Saturday. I have a list of tasks to do but it is quite difficult to work during a weekend break like today. But, I am trying my best to balance both relax and work.
Anyway, I have 2 manuscripts to be submitted for ICLCA but I haven’t yet completed checking both of it. Today, I will be doing just that. Earlier, I received an email about the publication of a manuscript for a PhD student that I currently co-supervise with Dr. Muhammad Tahir. The student, Sehar Taslim, successfully managed to publish her work in Journal of Alloy and Compounds. Click the link below to see and read the manuscript.

Today I conducted a mock presentation for my undergraduate research student. The session is important since they are going to have the first PSM presentation to present their research proposal.
The session involved 3 of my students and there are 3 different topics. The first is about catalysis engineering, second environmental sustainability index and also thermodynamic modelling simulations.
This is one webminar that I am involved in directly as the Chairperson. It was an amazing experience.
The COVID-19 pandemic affected the normal way of Teaching-Learning and Assessment conduct in education. Teaching becomes remote and alternative assessments are prevalent. Open book examinations have always been an alternative assessment used in engineering education. The nature of the complexity of engineering problems require application of several principles, tasks and/or standards or codes of practice to solve. The first part of the webinar explains the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) & Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC) Guiding Principles on Teaching-Learning and Assessment Implementation during COVID-19 Pandemic, which stipulated that all programmes are to ensure the attainment of the 12 Programme Outcomes (POs) according to the Standards and the purpose of accreditation shall not be compromised. How open book examinations can be used will be elaborated. The second part of the webinar focuses on utilising Constructive Alignment as the underpinning principle to make open book examination questions. Tips and examples on coming up with open book examinations will also be shared.
