Day 341 Task – Checking & Updating My NewRadis Account

I am fortunate that I was awarded with several research grants this year and last year. To run the projects, I have appointed my student under the GRA and SRA scheme in NewRadis roughly 1 month ago. Unfortunately, the appointment require some amendment but I receive no email to notify me about this. I only realized this when I login my NewRadis account.

Although I felt like blaming the system why no email was sent to inform me about this, I am blaming myself as well because why I am not aggressive in following up on the matter. From now on, I need to regularly login to my NewRadis account on a weekly basis, perhaps every Monday, to check on any Returned Application or Pending Application. InsyaAllah, by being more aggressive, I won’t waste time.

Day 340 Task – Progress Report Check for My Research Students

Today, on this lovely Saturday, I took the time to check on the progress of some of my PSM, Master and PhD research students. I checked and commented the progress of Abdelrahim Minalla (PhD Engineering Education Research), Raihan Aulia Zaky (Master Mixed Mode), Arif Hut (PSM) and Nasyitah (ex-PSM and hopefully soon to be a PhD student that I Co-supervised). That took quite some time too.

At night, I had a Webex meeting with Arif Hut to discuss his progress and direction on his Palm Oil Sustainability and Carbon Footprint project. After having the night meeting, I realized that even though the meeting was awesome and fruitful, I should not held the meeting on a Saturday night. That is a time I need to spend with my family. I believe maybe my student also may have activities with his family or friends, but has to commit for the meeting. Another aspect for me to improve.

Day 339 Task – Managing AJEE Journal for 2nd Issue Publication

Today, I am not as aggressive and active as the other days, but I just touched on this one thing, the AJEE journal that I am presently managing. Volume 4 Second Issue is supposed to be published this month, and there are several aspects that needed to be checked and taken action in order for the publication to be on track.

I hope InsyaAllah the 2nd Issue will be able to be published at the end of this month and this will marked the first time that AJEE have 2 Issues in one single year. Before this, since AJEE was published, it only has 1 issue. In the long run, we hope and pray that AJEE will be rank as high quality Scopus journal. InsyaAllah.

Day 338 Task – PhD VIVA for My 1st PhD Student

A NEW MILESTONE…

Syukur Alhamdulillah akhirnya perjuangan pelajar PhD saya berakhir dengan jayanya, dan kini boleh bergelar Dr. Nur Nazlina Saimon. Perjuangan yang penuh cabaran, dugaan selama bergelar PhD student akhirnya selesai dan kini tinggal siapkan sedikit correction. Perjalanan PhD yang tentunya memaparkan pelbagai episod warna warni dan epilog suka duka tiba jua ke penghujungnya.

7 tahun lepas pada masa yang hampir sama saya berjaya selesaikan PhD saya (My SV was Prof Nor Aishah Saidina Amin (NASA)), dan hari ini dengan izin Allah saya berjaya bimbing pelajar PhD pertama saya. Anak sulung lah ni :).

Apa pun ini adalah milestone yang penting, sangat penting untuk Nazlina. Saya doakan semoga Nazlina berjaya dalam career dan berjaya dunia akhirat. You have been a very excellent student. Tahniah kepada En. Hamzah, suami Nazlina kerana kejayaan ini adalah kejayaan anda juga. Anda telah curahkan doa, semangat, pengorbanan dan bantuan tidak berbelah bagi kepada your other half dengan baiknya.

Day 336 Task – Still eLPPT 7P Filling Up

The quest to complete the filling up of eLPPT continues. It is the continuity of the previous days as shown here in day 333 and here in day 334.

I believed I managed to complete almost all inputs and information plus its evidence by midnight. Alhamdulillah.

But, earlier in the morning, I had a rehearsal for CEE UTM Webminar that we will be hosting tomorrow, involving Prof Emiritus Richard Felder and Dr. Rebecca Brent. This is the second time we have both of them in a Webminar. Cannot wait for tomorrow.

Day 334 Task – Continuing Yesterday eLPPT Project

As mentioned yesterday, I continued to fill up this eLPPT online form that is to feed in all the evidences of our tasks throughout 2020.

But to be honest, the task did not last long as I got bored after sometime facing and focusing on the filling up process. On top of that, what contributed me to be slightly demotivated is that some of the tasks that I have, is not linked yet to the system and I could not see in actual the score of marks that I should have. I ended up teaming up with my daughters to paint a section of our wall that needs treatment.

Day 333 Task – Filling up eLPPT for 2020

I just learned few days ago that the deadline for us to fill up details on our detail tasks, activities for 2020 is this coming 30th November. Usually it is not that early, for the previous years.

Since this is urgent, I have to focus on this special task this very weekend. It’s not a short brief task as we need to gather all the evidences of all the tasks and activities that we have committed this year such as presenting in a conference, invitation as panel for a program, invitation as facilitator for certain program, manuscript reviewing tasks and much more.

One day is definitely not enough to complete the task, so I am expecting to continue this tomorrow. All the best Zaki 🙂
