Day 238 Task – Reviewing Another ECE Manuscript

Supposedly today I have a workshop for CIMAH OYK Module which stands for Control of Industrial Major Accident Hazard – Orang Yang Kompeten which is to be held at IFOG. But the program was cancelled and I am free to work on various of my pending tasks.

Today I decided to work on to review another  Education for Chemical Engineer (ECE) manuscript. As mentioned earlier,  I was invited to review 2 ECE manuscript simultaneously last week. Today I worked on the second ECE manuscript which was quite long. It occupied the first half of my day, but I am happy to read and comment on the paper as it was quite interesting.

Subsequently after lunch, I checked the IChemE Competency and Commitment Report prepared by 2 of my colleague since I was appointed as one of the Get Chartered facilitators in our School. Alhamdulillah, the job was completed and I felt great giving my colleagues good comments to improve their C&C report.

Day 237 Task – Citra Karism 2020 New Norm

SOMETHING TO BE GRATEFUL FOR

Alhamdulillah syukur to God All mighty. Managed to arrive although it was super late, seated and enjoy the new norm.

I’m grateful to be part of Centre for Engineering Education (CEE) family. We did a lot of activities, achieved a lot as well under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Khairiyah and all its powerful and dynamic team members. I personally learned a lot, still learning and will continue to learn.

May Allah help us to do and perform better and more for the society and nation. Amin….

Also thank you to my other half who has always been my loyal and true supporter.

Day 236 Task – Completing ECE Paper Review

I received invitation from an editor in ECE journal last week. The main challenge was that the editor gave me 2 manuscript simultaneously to review. Wow!!! I felt quite overwhelm because at the same time I have many things to do and accomplish.

Alhamdulillah, I managed to squeezed in some time and reviewed one of the manuscript. It was an interesting manuscript and I must say every-time I review a paper or journal, I will learn something new and fresh. That’s why even though I am quite hectic, I did not reject the invitation to review.

I will continue reviewing the second ECE paper tomorrow. InsyaAllah.

Day 235 Task – Updating ICLCA2020 Website

Today was the end of my brief trip with my family and parents. We arrived home nearly at 7 pm. By that time, I received a message to help update the ICLCA2020 website with some information regarding program book. Since I am the person in-charged of the website, I did handle it and publish that new piece of content effortless. I just imagine, if I don’t know how to update this, it will take hours figuring out. That’s separates people who knows and people who don’t. In this case, I know a bit about the new WP Divi Theme, although i struggled a lot last year, I managed to get better at this WP theme. There are still a lot to learn for this. There are still a lot to learn on other areas of discipline.

Day 234 Task – Taking A Break with Family and Parents at Desaru

No official Task for today!

It’s school break again and we took this opportunity to have a brief one night weekend getaway with my parents. They have been locked down in their house since the starting of Pandemic and it is something that they were looking for. Something different and something out of their routine.

Although the trip was a brief one, my parents managed to be with us doing various activities such as relaxing at the water park, beach, fine dine at Restaurant Terapung Bujang Firefly, watched firefly on a boat cruise, watched crocodiles at Teluk Sengat Crocodile Farm etc. It was an amazing brief trip and insyaAllah we’ll repeat more brief trips with my family and parents.

Day 233 Task – Second Day OBE Workshop with UNS

It’s Awal Muharram today, an official off day for all of us, but yet we are all working. We’re still working on the 2-days OBE workshop (Info on the first day can be found here). It was the second day of our fully online OBE workshop and this time it was held in one of the meeting rooms Cancellory Building, UTM. All of us, the CEE and UTM team gathered together in the meeting room, casually but conducted the workshop professionally.

The session was successfully completed, Alhamdulillah. We felt sense of satisfaction because we all knew that it was’n easy to conduct such online workshop. Handling a physical workshop is what we are used to do and it is easier. But the responses and feedback from UNS participants were amazing. They were happy with the course and i heard there will be a second part of training with them soon. We’ll do our best, insyaAllah.

Here is one of the 1 minute reflection by one of the participant:

good for practice
Preparing CLO can be tricky and challenging
8
learn more in P and A domains and construct CLO properly
i learned how to formulate CLO according to SMART and ABCD parameters. It is not new, but still we misunderstood some concept.
saya mengerti penggunaan ABCD pada CLO
it’s never easy to develop CLO.. a long discussion should be done to agreed something.
Although we’re used to make this course outline, but to state it in English need more effort
I can identify CLO with ABCD
I knew A B C D
Identify the CLO

Berikut adalah tugasan utk semakan PLO (kalau dah beri oral feedback boleh catit dgn ringkas) dan CLO:
1. Civil Eng: Prof Shahrin dan Dr Farah
2. Mechanical: Dr Nurul & Dr Syed
3. IT: Dr Noraini dan Dr Yana
4. Chemistry: Dr Zaki dan Prof Fatin
5. Ekonomi: Dr Mahyuddin dan Dr Yudariah

Day 229 Task – Preparing and Completing the Course Assessment Report for Plant Design Project Course

Finally after reading the book Eat That Frog, I decided to work on the Course Assessment Report (CAR) for the Capstone Plant Design Project (PDP) Course. It is such a very huge and detail course. Imagine having 14 Course Learning Outcome (CLO). Imagine all the massive calculations and analysis that needed to be done. Alhamdulillah, I managed to complete up to the the critical stage which is to insert students marks. Unfortunately after that I cannot proceed further even after I used the internet back home. The CAR Website keep on processing or hang. I will continue to complete the CQI and finalize the CAR for PDP tomorrow, InsyaAllah.

Some minor tasks that I also performed today were rehearsing for tomorrow’s Webminar about Problem Solving Using TRIZ (wait for my update tomorrow) and also reading a master thesis proposal for a proposal defense by Riyadh. He is being supervised by my colleague, Dr. Muhammad Tahir. So far, I have completed reading chapter 1 and scroll other chapters and it is looking good. The in depth and quality is there. It should be a fast and easy session tomorrow.
