Despite of quite a handful of tasks to do, today I will be focusing mainly on improving on of the research papers that I will be publishing in ICLCA2020 and ICoST2020. There are due dates to submit the improved manuscript version and I need to handle that as soon as possible.
At the same time, today I received an email from ICCME2020 mentioning they have accepted my new abstract to be presented in their conference soon. ICCEME is a conference organized by Universitas Diponogoro (UNDIP), Indonesia. The Director for this conference is my colleague Prof Ir. Dr. Didi Dwi Anggoro. He invited me to send publications to this conference few months back, and here i am.
We had our virtual CEE meeting this morning after quite a long time not having one. Among the agendas were:

Finally, I completed inserting the final marks for MKKK1653 Master in Chemical Plant Safety and Health into the GSMS system. Unfortunately, the GSMS system was not functioning properly and the submitted marks were said to be completed and finalized, which was not supposed to happen. but it’s OK, nothing to be worried because I managed to get hold with those from Academic Office to help me deal with the matter as I have some marks that were wrongly added.
Apart from this, I have several other tasks such as following up all my UG and PG students. Need to follow up with their progress and get them move…
But among the interesting task today was the updating of the Perisytiharan Harta into the system, which was sent back to me due to some inaccurate data inserted by myself last February 2020. Alhamdulillah, everything was settled, thanks to the clerk who kindly assisted me. She knew me and knew my father too. And the funny thing is that she is my friend in Facebook 🙂 Haha.. what a small world.

Today, I freed myself from any official academic or research activities. I just spent my beautiful Saturday on my new personal interest which is exploring the internet to learn various new things. I also relaxed, break the pattern of my strict routine by watching Keluarga Iskandar sitcom which is very funny and interesting.
Most importantly, I have planned all the important task to be accomplished for tomorrow, a brand new day and week.
Working productively is good, but too much of something is bad. Hence, from time to time, I try to balance myself and mix it with other activities, not just official work.

The paper that I reviewed today was the revised version of the manuscript that I have reviewed earlier. It was a very interesting manuscript about safety course that is being introduce to the bachelor of chemical engineering curriculum in one of the European country. The manuscript which was earlier quite OK has now became a very lengthy and valuable interesting great article. I am glad to be part of the reviewer who provided some of the inputs and comments to make the manuscript at its present state. Well, that’s part of our job, as a critical reviewer in the engineering education sector, particularly in the chemical engineering niche.

As shared yesterday, today I will be the evaluator / assessor for Team 1 and Team 8 for the Final Year Chemical Engineering students of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). The first session started at 9am, which is the session with Team 1 while 10.45am was the session with Team 8. The session which took place in Google Meet was smooth and fruitful. I did asked many questions and also in some areas helped clarify few things to the students.
At 2.30pm, a special session involving invited assessors, supervisors and students were held, also in Google Meet. I was given the opportunity to comment and give suggestions on the session held in the morning. Other assessors also commented as well.
Overall it was a very good session. I learned a lot from the program, even though I was the assessor. I learned how they handled / conducted the program. It is good for me since I am the Coordinator for PDP in the Chemical Engineering program in UTM.

I was invited to evaluate Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Chemical Engineering Plant Design Project (PDP) for their Final Year Student. It was my first time to be invited for this program and I have earlier agreed. Since the program will take place tomorrow and the pre-recorded presentation have been given to me 2 days ago, I spent basically almost the whole day watching tentatively to this presentation. It is not like the PDP that we have for our chemical engineering PDP in UTM.
For this, I was assigned to be the evaluator for 2 teams, which were Team 1 and Team 8. Each team have a general pre-recorded presentation and each members will also have their own pre-recorded presentation. The allowed time for each individual presentation in 15 minutes maximum. Each team have 5 students. Just imagine the time spent to view the presentation, and also to understand it, plus jotting down questions to be asked.
Luckily I managed to complete all videos by the end of the day and have all my questions ready for tomorrow. Wish me luck for tomorrow.
