Dr. Zulhasni Abdul Rahim is a National Innovation TRIZ Expert attached to the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), under Management of Technology Department. More than 17 years working in industries and his last post is under Transformation Division at PROTON Holdings. He has successfully leveraged and applied his TRIZ expertise and tools to achieve more than 10 breakthroughs in the area of
improving product value and cost reduction for his previous organization. Dr. Zulhasni is an active participant in the international TRIZ Competition and won two consecutive Grand Champions with a leading edge and innovative solutions. He is very passionate about TRIZ and constantly market the methodology through the ‘TRIZ Malaysia’ Facebook website that he hosted. He is a Mechanical Engineer by training from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a Ph.D. on TRIZ from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

Day 229 Task – Preparing and Completing the Course Assessment Report for Plant Design Project Course

Finally after reading the book Eat That Frog, I decided to work on the Course Assessment Report (CAR) for the Capstone Plant Design Project (PDP) Course. It is such a very huge and detail course. Imagine having 14 Course Learning Outcome (CLO). Imagine all the massive calculations and analysis that needed to be done. Alhamdulillah, I managed to complete up to the the critical stage which is to insert students marks. Unfortunately after that I cannot proceed further even after I used the internet back home. The CAR Website keep on processing or hang. I will continue to complete the CQI and finalize the CAR for PDP tomorrow, InsyaAllah.

Some minor tasks that I also performed today were rehearsing for tomorrow’s Webminar about Problem Solving Using TRIZ (wait for my update tomorrow) and also reading a master thesis proposal for a proposal defense by Riyadh. He is being supervised by my colleague, Dr. Muhammad Tahir. So far, I have completed reading chapter 1 and scroll other chapters and it is looking good. The in depth and quality is there. It should be a fast and easy session tomorrow.

Day 228 Task – Updating ICLCA Website

It’s a beautiful Saturday. It is also the day for ICOST2020 Conference but due to unforeseen circumstances, I could not present in the conference. I asked the committee to play my presentation video instead. I was working on other domestic project that require my urgent attention. We also took the opportunity on the late afternoon to visit my parents who lives 30 km away from my house. Later that night, I was asked to update ICLCAconf.com website. Updating ICLCA Website in view to the presentation methodology that need to be in online and video mode.

Day 227 Task – Evaluating A Research Grant Proposal

It is very rare that get task such as to evaluate a research grant since it is normally given to Associate Professors and Professors only. But, yesterday I received an email invitation to review a research grant which is very relevant to my expertise and I am so excited to evaluate it. I got some time today and I managed to review, comment and submit my comments and verdict for the proposal. I do hope to be given more research proposal review in future.

Day 225 Task – OBE Workship Series Meeting

We will be conducting the workshop for Fakulti Pendidikan Teknik, which has 3 Depts. There are 25 participants. This faculty produce graduates who will teach in vocational and technical schools/colleges. For that, we have a kicked-start meeting today at 5pm after work. Why the meeting started at 5pm? Because of our busy schedule.

Honestly, I am not the expert for this but I am learning. My role in this workshop is as one of the facilitators.

European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a standard for comparing the study attainment and performance of students of higher education across the European Union and other collaborating European countries. For successfully completed studies, ECTS credits are awarded. One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS-credits that are equivalent to 1500–1800 hours of study in all countries irrespective of standard or qualification type and is used to facilitate transfer and progression throughout the Union.

Day 224 Task – RCEE Progress Meeting

RCEE is around the corner which will be held on the 29-30 th September 2020. Starting from this meeting, this week, we will have the RCEE meeting each Tuesday at 3pm to ensure everything will be ok. Originally I was assigned to lead a specific program, which I forgot now. Now, I assisting other department such as the Program Department and others to help on design the parallel session.

Day 221 Task – Book Project Editing

This book project is nothing to do and not related to this one. It is another book that I am pursuing with another very senior lecturer in my school. This book is 90% ready in terms of content but still have some formatting issues to deal with. InsyaAllah this book will be published by Penerbit UTM and will hopefully be available somewhere in 2021. It will be a very beneficial book for every graduates out there  regardless of discipline. In general the market is broader than my other  previous publications.
