It was about 5 hours plus the deadline of 4pm GMT. The preparation of this proposal was amazingly intense for me and I have been thinking about the preparation of this proposal even while sleeping.

2022 Day 51 Task – Improving Safety Champion in Engineering Education (SCEE) RAE Proposal

I can say this is like a last minute job too, but at least it is in progress. There are so many thing to be done but yet there’s so little time. After a brief meeting with Prof. Khairiyah at 11am yesterday, I can only edit and improve the proposal now. Yesterday, afternoon, I had a meeting at Sekolah Agama Kangkar Pulai and subsequently after that I visited my parents and brother’s family who just arrived from Kuala Lumpur the day before. I was with them till nearly 11pm.

  • Submit MKKH student marks to Coordinator (Nazirul, Intan Nordiana, Hidayah and Fateha)
  • Update website
  • Shared some articles to SG – Narrative inquiry (2) and engineering identity (2) papers.

2022 Day 50 Task – Mesyuarat Badan Kebajikan Sekolah Agama Kangkar Pulai

I attended Mesyuarat AJK Badan Kebajikan Sekolah Agama Kangkar Pulai. During the meeting, I just realized that the last time I attended the meeting was in 2020. This was because no meeting was held in 2021.

Other tasks of the day:

  • Meeting with Prof Khairiyah to discuss on SCEE RAE
  • Sent Alphard for servicing due to auto oil leakage

2022 Day 49 Task – Delivering Goods to Asnaf

This community service task has been pending for perhaps 1 month or more. Finally today, we managed to deliver the goods that consist of rice (5 kg), cooking oil (5 kg) and a box of dry cooking material to 14 out of 20 asnafs. Thanks a lot to Hj Samiin and also En. Wagiman for assisting. All of the goods were loaded into my 19 years old White Toyota Alphard. Alhamdulillah the white giant managed to perform the job.

This is my duty as a Muslim, as a human being, to help others. This is also part of my duty as an academia, where it is considered as serving the public / community service.

2022 Day 48 Task – Grading Reflection Journal & Meta-Reflection of My ITE Students

I spent majority of today to do most of the grading of my ITE student’s Reflection Journal and also Meta-Reflection Journal assignment. Since the reflections were submitted online in e-learning, I did all the readings, evaluation and commenting online as well.

I love reading student’s reflection. Besides knowing what and how they feel, I can also learn something new from the students as well. I have been reading reflection journal for quite a number of years already, perhaps since 2014, if I am not mistaken. That means I have been reading reflections for 7 years already. Phewww….

  • EE Research discussion with CEE RO
  • Discuss on rack purchase and also miscellaneous research matter with my Master student
  • Discuss on Thermodynamic paper project
  • Complete marking MKKL student marks

2022 Day 47 Task – 1st SEEM Meeting of the Year

Last time we had SEEM meeting was somewhere in November 2021, and that meeting was joined with Philippine Association of Engineering Schools (PAES). Today’s meeting (2.30pm-4.30pm) was participated by as usual committees from UTM, USM, UTM, UPM, Xiamen University, freelance and also retired educators.

Various activities concerning engineering education in Malaysia context as well as empowerment of the society membership was discussed. We hope that SEEM can grow and establish itself to be a reputable society that could enhance the progress and development of engineering education in Malaysia.

2022 Day 46 Task – Online Discussion on New Thermodynamic Work

I am glad and happy that I am working with a nice Malaysian person who is not my student and not attached to a university yet. The student is supposed to be my PhD students this coming March semester, however, because she received an offer from a university from outside Malaysia, hence she has to turned down being my PhD student. I understand her a lot in the sense that she wanted to have international / foreign exposure after having her bachelor and masters degree in Malaysia. It’s good to travel and learn new things abroad.

I have been discussing and guiding her on this new thermodynamic topics since end of January. This afternoon, after lunch, we had a Webex meeting because she was not yet well verse with the thermodynamic software. Hence, I suggested to have the meeting so I can explain more on the software and how to use it. It went well and I am hoping that we can come out with a very good publication soon.

Other tasks of the day:

  • Small CEE Admin meeting – 10am
  • Kursus Asas Haji – 7.45pm
  • Marking and keying in marks

2022 Day 44 Task – Respond to Student’s Test Queries & Result

Introduction to Engineering Test result was released to the students of my class last week. Some of the students inquired about the answers, marks, and others. I did not have the time to entertain them last week due to managing some other tasks. Today I make it a point to respond to all those who have asked me about their test result.

The delay for doing this was also partly because of the online class. At least if we are face to face, then we can immediately response to them. Even though this maybe a small task, it is still super important for me as an educator. As a lecturer, our focus on teaching and helping our students.

Other tasks of the day:

  • Updating student’s marks for ITE
  • SCEE RAE Project proposal still on-going
