2022 Day 56 Task – Strategic Planning Centre for Engineering Education 2022 (SPC’22) – Online

Alhamdulillah, after a long time, finally we managed to start with first day of CEE Strategic Planning.

We can only plan but Allah decides. We plan for a 3 days 2 night retreat for the strategic planning but due to sudden spike of omicron positive cases, we have to opt for an online workshop. The workshop is not over yet. We have to break it down into smaller segments due to online limitations (difficulty to focus long duration of time in front of laptop).

We believe that we are heading in the right direction,

In Syaa Allah. Towards a more quality engineering program and quality engineers in Malaysia…

2022 Day 52 Task – MCED Project Meeting

This is a meeting that gathered numerous big shots in engineering program to discuss on the future direction of engineering program in Malaysia. The title of this project is “Kajian Hala Tuju Program Kejuruteraan di Universiti Awam di Malaysia dalam Mendepani Era Revolusi Industri 4.0.

The project is a 6 month project duration that made this project schedule very tight, and I can say going to bit a bit stressful.

Other tasks of the day:

  • Still working on SCEE RAE proposal
  • Search Safety Journal for publication
  • Submitted article proof for CHERD journal Shuchyi’s paper
  • Completed review for Drone Education paper that was submitted to RCEE2021
  • Followed up on the “pengisian” for SPC’22 this coming Friday

Day 332 Task – Post Graduate Research Methodology for Engineering Education Research

Day 199 Task – AJEE Management

This is one task which I have to monitor and handle from time to time and it’s proven quite challenging. But it is OK. I’m up to the challenge which I have taken since the beginning of MCO Covid 19. If I am not mistaken it has been about 3 or 4 months since I took over handling this AJEE journal from Prof Fatin. Alhamdulillah we have managed to published Volume 4 Issue 1. Now I am working on to publish Volume 4 Issue 2. InsyaAllah, please pray for us to make AJEE a scopus indexed journal soon.

Day 152 Task – Toyota Empathy Grant Meeting #3

Since the grant project proposal is so much just around the corner, we have no choice than to have this meeting to check and finalize on the scope and methodology of this subject. We just had a meeting 3 days ago and we met again today. Still we are working on the best approach, the best way for this project. Wish us the best of luck!

Details on the The Toyota Foundation grant information can be found here.

Program Title: Cultivating Empathy Through Learning from Our Neighbors: Practitioners’ Exchange on Common Issues in Asia

Program Objectives

The grant program focuses on deepening mutual understanding and knowledge-sharing among people on the ground in East and Southeast Asia who are finding solutions to shared issues. Through promoting direct interaction among key players, the grant program aims to survey and analyze situations in target countries, obtain new perspectives, and expand the potential of future generations.

With multinational teams comprised of participants from diverse backgrounds, projects can avoid conventional linear relationships, such as “supporter and supported” or “instructor and trainee,” and instead form cooperative and creative alliances that consider, act on, and construct solutions to shared issues. The grant program anticipates that these partnerships, which extend beyond such factors as nationality, age, and organizational affiliation, will produce significant social change through fostering a process of mutual learning.

Day 151 Task – Preparation of RCEE Manuscript

It was quite late that I started to compile and work on this RCEE manuscript which is supposed to be submitted tomorrow (31/5/2020). It’s a great team work of authors from the Introduction to Engineering (ITE) lecturers of School of Chemical & Energy Engineering (SKT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

However, the manuscript is not yet completed but almost done. InsyaAllah it will be completed and checked by other authors within the next 1 or 2 days.

Day 135 Task – The Big Engineering Education Research Meet Up

This is the first time I participated in a huge global Engineering Education meeting and more than 110 researchers associated to Engineering Education Research (EER) were here. There were several Keynote Talk that were staggered in 3 sessions on the 14th May 2020.  The first session which was as early as 7am (Malaysia time) was presented by CEE Research Fellow, Dr. Nor Farawahidah Abdul Rahman. Her presentation was very interesting and can be viewed in this youtube link. The second Keynote Talk was from Dr. Kerrie Douglas from Purdue University, USA. The second session was at 6pm (Malaysia time)while the 3rd session was at 11pm (Malaysia time).

Overall, it was such an amazing session where the EER community gathered, exchange ideas and supported each others contribution. Bravo.

Day 31 Task – Rigourous Research Engineering Education (Part 3)

Today is not a working day but I still have to come for this workshop, which is Part 3 out of a total of 4 workshops for engineering education research. Today we learned about the theories and methods to perform qualitative analysis. It is more complicated to compared to the quantitative analysis which was covered yesterday.

Engineering Education Research Workshop Part 3

I am attending a 3 day workshop of Engineering Education Research (Part 3). Earlier I have attended Part 1 and Part 2. The earlier Part 1 and Part 2 were very challenging and tough for me. Although I have several engineering education research under my name and my comrades, there are still a lot to learn. Luckily the one today which is about data collection and analysis seems to be ok for me. InsyaAllah. Hopefully I can grasp all the skills and knowledge to be great in engineering education research.

Day 30 Task – First Meeting with Mr Abdelrahim, My New PhD Student from UAE/Sudan

Today, my new PhD student whom will be doing engineering education research under Center of Engineering Education registered. He just arrived from America and will be here in UTM until Saturday. Prof Dr. Khairiyah Mohd Yusof and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatin Aliah Phang are the co-supervisors. This is my first engineering education research student. I hope Mr. Abdelrahim PhD journey will be smooth. Amin.

Other Tasks for the day, despite this one being a very full packed day:
