2021 Day 106 Tasks – Mahathir Science Award Essay Competition Judging

I was invited bby Dr. JS Lim to participate as a judge for the Mahathir Science Award Essay Competition yesterday. There were essays that is no more than 1000 words that need to be evaluated in English as well as Malays medium. I can see that the essays were written by form 1-3 students and it was enjoyable reading the essays. There were excellent and just fairly good essays. I did recommend one of the English essay to be nominated as the top 10 because the story line is very good, creative, innovative and mind blowing.
I did contact the organizer, informing that I have completed the tasks, expressing my gratitude for inviting me as well offering myself as judge for future essay competition.
2021 Day 105 Tasks – SEEM Meeting on My Weekend

So far the trend is SEEM meeting every Friday, which is our off day (as we work in Johor). But that’s fine as I occasionally do some official tasks throughout the weekends.
Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa SEEM Bil 2 2020/2021 was held from 3pm to 5pm and it include the new recruited committees as well. I participated in the meeting using my mobile phone as I was with my family purchasing books from my daughter who will sit for her SPM at the end of the year. It seems like now the world has really become so strongly connected. Even though we are not physically face to face at the meeting, even though we travel here and there, yet still the online meeting can be successfully executed even when I am in Plaza Angsana. I have several parts to present myself and that did not affected me from reporting my tasks/parts.
Most important decision from the meeting were made (that involved me) and I am glad that the meeting was held.

2021 Day 103 Tasks – Mataf Poster Completed

I managed to get assistance from our interns, Ajmal and Syafiq who are very good in design and hence the poster were completed in just a mere hour. Both of them are extremely diligent, hardworking and good guys. They have helped us in CEE to design a coffee table book, RCEE2021 website and others. I wish they can be with CEE as long as it can be.
Note: You will always want the best person to be in your organization right?

2021 Day 99 Tasks – ICLCA2021 Abstract Submission

I have actually planned to submit this since 3-4 days ago but did not managed to catch the time to do so… Alhamdulillah I managed to submit it today. I submitted my PSM student research topic “Thermodynamic Analysis of Hydroxypropanone as Bio-Oil Model Compound to Light Hydrocarbons”. InsyaAllah soon there will be more of my PSM students submitting for this conference.

- Still follow up on my PSM and Master student research
- Preparation for Master Safety Class tomorrow
- Preparation for Petroleum and Refinery Tech class this coming Wednesday.

2021 Day 98 Tasks – PSM Research Consultations

Today, I focused on following up and provide consultation to my PSM student’s research. I do not have a regular weekly face to face meeting, by style is my students need to send report to me on a weekly basis, and follow up either by call, whatsapp discussion and email. So far it has been working well for both sides (in my opinion). I am training my students to work independently with minimal supervision but yet high productivity. High productivity is defined as the student not only can complete their project but also can publish in journal as well as present in international conferences.
So far the following PSM students of mine managed to present in conference and/or publish in journal:

2021 Day 97 Tasks – CEE Meeting with Universiti Malang

Today, we had a meeting with an Institute from Universiti Malang that was headed by Pak Dr. I Wayan Dasna. This meeting was initiated by Prof Dr. Hadi Nur from UTM and it was an interesting get to know each other meeting. Both sides brought their team to the meeting and learned about each other and think of some areas of future collaborations.
Other tasks of the day:
- Following up with various RCEE2021 issues.
- CEE Meeting no. 4 at 2pm.
- Small RCEE2021 meeting to discuss TOR 3.15pm
- Coffee Table book meeting – 9.40am
- Preparation for CEE and Uni Malang meetings.

Two important events are happening today: (1) ReCASE2021 Conference which is organized by UMP where 3 of my students submitted their research papers, and (2) The 2-Days Workshop On Engaging Millennial Through Active Learning
Once again, I am involved in another 2 Days Workshop oN ENGAGING MILLENNIALS THROUGH ACTIVE LEARNING. This time the event was organized by UTMLead, but handled and delivered by CEE.
31 Academic staffs from UTM Skudai, Pagoh and UTM KL participated in the workshop.
