Day 225 Task – OBE Workship Series Meeting

We will be conducting the workshop for Fakulti Pendidikan Teknik, which has 3 Depts. There are 25 participants. This faculty produce graduates who will teach in vocational and technical schools/colleges. For that, we have a kicked-start meeting today at 5pm after work. Why the meeting started at 5pm? Because of our busy schedule.

Honestly, I am not the expert for this but I am learning. My role in this workshop is as one of the facilitators.

European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a standard for comparing the study attainment and performance of students of higher education across the European Union and other collaborating European countries. For successfully completed studies, ECTS credits are awarded. One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS-credits that are equivalent to 1500–1800 hours of study in all countries irrespective of standard or qualification type and is used to facilitate transfer and progression throughout the Union.

Day 224 Task – RCEE Progress Meeting

RCEE is around the corner which will be held on the 29-30 th September 2020. Starting from this meeting, this week, we will have the RCEE meeting each Tuesday at 3pm to ensure everything will be ok. Originally I was assigned to lead a specific program, which I forgot now. Now, I assisting other department such as the Program Department and others to help on design the parallel session.

Guideline Sticker

Sticker switch:
1. Stick the sticker above the switch
2. 1 sticker for a cluster of switches
3. Prioritize sticker for general areas, such as corridor, lobby
4. Prioritize location without existing sticker

Computer sticker switch
1. Stick at the bottom of the computer MONITOR
2. Stick near the switch but not ON the switch
3. For computer labs, stick sticker “selang-seli”. Only stick for all computer if got extra stickers

Day 221 Task – Book Project Editing

This book project is nothing to do and not related to this one. It is another book that I am pursuing with another very senior lecturer in my school. This book is 90% ready in terms of content but still have some formatting issues to deal with. InsyaAllah this book will be published by Penerbit UTM and will hopefully be available somewhere in 2021. It will be a very beneficial book for every graduates out there  regardless of discipline. In general the market is broader than my other  previous publications.

Day 219 Task – UTM CEE Webminar 9 – Me as MC

Today, I became the MC for the 9th UTM CEE Webminar Series titled Engineering Education Research: Where do We Start? This Webminar was presented by Prof Dr Fatin Aliah Phang and Chaired/facilitated by Prof. Dr. Khairiyah Mohd Yusof. I acted as the MC for the opening and closing of the Webminar. Overall it was a brilliant seminar and I believed many have learned and benefited from this Webminar.

Day 218 Task – Continued Miscellaneous Pending Tasks

As usual there are plenty of miscellaneous formal pending tasks that I need to work on everyday. Today I intend just to highlight some of the urgent pending official tasks:

  • CAR preparation for MKKK1653
  • CAR preparation for SKTK Plant Design Project
  • To improve ICLCA2020 papers
  • To improve ICOST2020 paper
  • To search a thesis in my office that I need to assess next week (LOL).

Day 217 Task – Course Analysis Report (CAR) Preparation for Graduate Student Attribute (GSA) Course

I was shocked yesterday since the GSA Coordinator informed to submit the CAR for GSA today before 10am. So, without wasting any time, I started to prepare the CAR report for GSA as early as 7am, since I have no experience yet using the iOBE platform. It was quite a challenge to prepare the CAR report at such a rush but Alhamdulillah I managed to complete it just before 9am. I submitted the report to the coordinator and I planned to start working on the CAR for my master subject and also Plant Design Project today. Let’s see how it goes.

Today, I also presented the marks for my PA students to our Deparment Head. The result is just fine with all students did not complete the lab at Fakulti Science in view of the Pandemic.

Later Update:

It was not easy as there are errors in the iOBE system when I attempted to start the CAR for MKKK1653 course. Frustrated, puzzled and confused, I decided to continue tomorrow.

Day 216 Task – Continuation of the ICLCA2020 and ICOST2020 Paper Improvement

I haven’t yet fully completed the correction and improvement of the paper that need to be submitted to ICLCA2020 and ICoST2020 as shared before here and here. Because of that, I need to focus on completing at least 2 manuscripts today.  Not only that I have 2 for ICLCA2020 and 1 manuscript for ICoST2020, I also have 1 manuscript each for RCEE2020 and ICCME2020 that need to be corrected and prepared, respectively.

I hope today will be a productive day in terms of completing most of the papers. InsyaAllah

Day 215 Task – Participated in Korban Activity at Surau Al-Taqwa

Two days ago, Friday, was the Eid Adha and it was a very meaningful moment for Muslim’s around the world. Surau Al-Taqwa is the surau that I perform my prayers in this community. Usually the sacrifice (Korban) were made on the first day, 10 Zulhijjah, but this year, in view of Covid and also since the Eid falls on a Friday, the sacrifice was performed on the 3rd day which was today (Sunday).

I took the opportunity to participate in the Sacrifice at the Surau. Seven cows were sacrificed and a lot of us, the nearby community helped in the process. This is part of our social obligation, community service that we should do.
