Day 150 Task – Checking My Master Student’s Review Paper Manuscript

This project has been pending for quite some time and I am not proud of being very late. The task is quite overwhelming because it is quite a  long manuscript and the amount of interruption i always get from numerous other tasks, keeps me to put this into a delayed but important priority, and I am personally not happy with the way i treat this project. I must get it done once and for all. InsyaAllah, this week, it will be submitted, that’s a challenge to myself.

Day 149 Task – TOYOTA Empathy Grant Meeting #2

The Toyota Empathy grant submission date is just around the corner and our team is working hard to prepare this research grant. The budget is 10 million Yen for 2 years, which is quite a hefty amount for this kind of research. Our meeting kicked start as early as 9am and we discussed the approached,  research objectives, methodology and divided the tasks among us based on our expertise.  We shall meet up again in Webex this Sunday afternoon to share updates on our progress in the proposal preparation.

Day 148 Tasks (b) – Submission of CEE news to UTM News Hub

I was asked by the Director of CEE to write a news regarding the Big Engineering Education Meeting recently and to submit it to the central UTM NEws Hub. This was my first time writing to the news and it is pretty much an interesting news gathering system. The cooperate division of UTM utilizes a simple WordPress news system allowing contributor to submit news, off course the news will be reviewed first before it can be officially published. I guessed I will be sending more news and updates which has impact to UTM News Hub in future since I already registered an account as a news contributor.

Day 148 Task – Miscellaneous Official Tasks

Since I have taken a relatively larger break from work, I need to catch up with numerous pending tasks. Here are the list of tasks to be completed today:

  1. Checking my EER PhD student research proposal.
  2. Checking my 3 undergraduate research student proposal drafts.
  3. Managing AJEE (as usual).
  4. Updating this website.
  5. Submitting a a review manuscript for Energy Conversion and Management Journal (ECM), hopefully it can be fully submitted today or 50% submitted.
  6. Submitting CEE official news to UTM newsfeed.
  7. Checking RCEE paper draft.
  8. ETC ETC ETC…

Day 147 Task – Reviewing Jurnal Teknologi Manuscript

It’s the 3rd day of Hari Raya. I managed to juggle some tasks today, not many but yes, a few of them. Today I forced myself to review a manuscript assigned to me. It’s something to do with reaction and catalysis engineering.

Day 144 Task – Preparing CEE Hari Raya Video

Early in the morning all CEE members have this Webex meeting where we are going to produce a Hari Raya video. I was assigned to prepare the video. Even though I am not any kind of expert, I was given the responsibility and I have to fulfill it as soon as possible, before evening. After the Webex meeting, I have to sit down for 2 hours just to select and edit clips. It was a 50 minute webex video and I have to select 2 minutes worth of footage. After that I seek my son’s help to make the video better. In short, I am satisfied with the video despite of the very short notice and also the business of last day for Hari Raya preparation.

Day 143 Task – Toyota Foundation International Grant Program 2020

It’s almost Hari Raya and there are plenty of house chores need to be done. Cleaning and tidying up. Because of that, I did not perform any official task today. I’m sorry. So, how does our house looks like after cleaning?

Anyway, I did read about this Toyota Foundation International Grant Program 2020 which CEE will prepare a proposal for. There was a meeting yesterday but I couldn’t join because I was having this Active Learning Discussion.  Today I had the opportunity to check out to discuss a bit with Dr. Aziatul Niza and Dr. Nurzal Effiyana about the project where I am part of the team member. OK, need to work on this after Hari Raya soon. InsyaAllah.

The International Grant Program of the Toyota Foundation continues the sixth year of its program “Cultivating Empathy Through Learning from Our Neighbors: Practitioners’ Exchange on Common Issues in Asia”, focusing on countries in East and Southeast Asia. The grant program focuses on deepening mutual understanding and knowledge-sharing among people on the ground in target countries who are finding solutions to shared issues. Through promoting direct interaction among key players, the grant program aims to survey and analyze situations in target countries, obtain new perspectives, and expand the potential of future generations

Day 142 Task – Sembang Santai FB Live Discussion – Sukarkah Active Learning

Saya telah dijemput oleh PM Dr. Kamaruddin untuk menjadi salah satu panel dalam sesi diskusi Sembang Santai anjuran UTMFREE SKT. Tajuk perbincangan ini sangat menarik iaitu, “Sukarkah Nak Buat Pembelajaran Aktif Ni?”

Panel-panel terdiri daripada PM Ir Dr Mimi Haryani Hasim, Dr. Muhd Nazrul Hisham Zainal Alam, Dr. Hasrinah Hasbullah dan saya sendiri. Manakala PM Dr. Kamarudin adalah Moderator bagi program ini.
