We should not tolerate excessive demands from our employers. If an e-mail is responded to after work hours, those 10 minutes should count as work and be paid for on top of the salary. Work is work.

A new study has found you may be suffering from excessive stress and anxiety about work expectations even if you don’t actively check work emails in your off-hours. The mere expectation of being in contact 24/7 is enough to increase strain for employees and their families, the new research suggests. In today’s ultra-connected world, with many people often getting work emails sent to their smartphones, a growing number of countries and companies are endorsing “right to disconnect” laws, recreating a much-needed boundary between work and home.

We had a grant proposal discussion today. My research group proposed the One Fathom Bank project. Good response from colleagues of Razak Faculty.

Pusat Gelandangan Medan Tunku

We went to Pusat Gelandangan Medan Tunku last night. We were there to see what we as UTM’s lecturers can help the NGOs there. Last night was Kaseh4u and Pustaka Jalanan turn to manage the activities there. Different NGOs in charge of distributing foods and handling activities to the gelandangan each day. Such a startling and eye-opening experience to me personally.
