Day 157 Task – Final Preparation of Toyota Foundation Grant

Today will be the submission deadline for this grant. to our surprise section 4 and 6 have not been assigned to anybody and completed yet. Before this I had helped to prepare Section 1, 2, 3 of the research proposal. Section 1 is by working together with Dr. Aziatul Niza Sadikin. Because it was already so late, I helped out to prepare section 4 and 6, in the early morning of Friday and submitted it to our Toyota Empathy Google Drive storage.

Prof Khairiyah did the final checking and finally Dr. Effiyana submitted the research proposal to Japan. Alhamdulillah. One task done!

Day 155 Task – Plant Design Project Coordinator Info Briefing

IMPORTANT PDP (SKKC 4834): Evaluation of Entrepreneurship Skills & Final PDP Presentation DETAILS

Salam and Dear Supervisors,
A)  EVALUATION OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS

1) It is already time for the Evaluation of Entrepreneurship Skills and according to the project schedule it will be time for Profitability Analysis calculations.

2) For this part, each Supervisor need to evaluate Entrepreneurship Skills (5%) based on the rubrics provided earlier. This is a Psychomotor assessment, which means that we need to assess the process, not the end product or the solution only.

3) This is an individual assessment, therefore Supervisors need to evaluate each member of your Design Team.

4) In order to evaluate, SV needs to formulate a problem statement which require students to solve and calculate the desired payback period and return of investment (ROI). Then observe the process of how they solve the problem. Provide marks according to the rubrics.

5) We expect SV to conduct the evaluation anytime starting from tomorrow till 10 June 2020.

6)  After the Evaluation of Entrepreneurship Skills have been done, please submit the marks to me via email using the similar excel file that you have used to submit previous marks, by 11 June 2020, 5.00 pm.
B) FINAL PLANT DESIGN PROJECT PRESENTATION

1) The Final Presentation session will be conducted on the 15/16 May 2020 (Monday/Tuesday) via Webex or other suitable platform. The panels and students can discuss which is the best  day and time that fit everyone for the session.
2) All Supervisors are required to be the Panellists of this Final Presentation session.
3) The schedule and detailed list of panellists is the same as the previous Interim Presentation.
4) After the Final Plant Design presentation, please submit the marks to me via email using the similar excel file that you have used to submit previous marks , by 17 June 2020, 5.00 pm.
If there are any enquiries, do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you.
Wassallam

Day 154b Task – Complete Reviewing 2 Papers and Managing AJEE

There’re lots to do but limited time. Yes, although we work from home, seems like we are not working, but in actual, there are too many works to do. For instance, today, I woke up very early in the morning with the mission to work and slash the following activities from my Today To Do List:

  1. Preparation of Toyota Foundation Research Proposal Grant.
  2. Grading Master Safety assignments, quiz and tests.
  3. Reviewing manuscript from Mediterranean Journal of Chemistry (MJC).
  4. Reviewing manuscript from Education for Chemical Engineers (ECE).
  5. Managing Asean Journal for Chemical Engineers (AJEE) as we are publishing the 4th Volume (Issue 1) this month, online.
  6. Preparation for the Talk I am going to give today.
  7. Checking my post graduate students review paper to be published soon in ECM.

Day 153 Task – Grading Graduate Success Attribute (GSA) Assignment

This is the final assignment that I gave to my GSA students and this is the most exciting assignment and I find it very interesting to see all the students personal entrepreneurship idea. I must say that I learned from them a lot too. The implementation and adoption of flipgrid is super interesting. I will definitely consider using this again in my future class. Bravo!!!

Day 152 Task – Toyota Empathy Grant Meeting #3

Since the grant project proposal is so much just around the corner, we have no choice than to have this meeting to check and finalize on the scope and methodology of this subject. We just had a meeting 3 days ago and we met again today. Still we are working on the best approach, the best way for this project. Wish us the best of luck!

Details on the The Toyota Foundation grant information can be found here.

Program Title: Cultivating Empathy Through Learning from Our Neighbors: Practitioners’ Exchange on Common Issues in Asia

Program Objectives

The grant program focuses on deepening mutual understanding and knowledge-sharing among people on the ground in East and Southeast Asia who are finding solutions to shared issues. Through promoting direct interaction among key players, the grant program aims to survey and analyze situations in target countries, obtain new perspectives, and expand the potential of future generations.

With multinational teams comprised of participants from diverse backgrounds, projects can avoid conventional linear relationships, such as “supporter and supported” or “instructor and trainee,” and instead form cooperative and creative alliances that consider, act on, and construct solutions to shared issues. The grant program anticipates that these partnerships, which extend beyond such factors as nationality, age, and organizational affiliation, will produce significant social change through fostering a process of mutual learning.

Day 151 Task – Preparation of RCEE Manuscript

It was quite late that I started to compile and work on this RCEE manuscript which is supposed to be submitted tomorrow (31/5/2020). It’s a great team work of authors from the Introduction to Engineering (ITE) lecturers of School of Chemical & Energy Engineering (SKT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

However, the manuscript is not yet completed but almost done. InsyaAllah it will be completed and checked by other authors within the next 1 or 2 days.

Day 150 Task – Checking My Master Student’s Review Paper Manuscript

This project has been pending for quite some time and I am not proud of being very late. The task is quite overwhelming because it is quite a  long manuscript and the amount of interruption i always get from numerous other tasks, keeps me to put this into a delayed but important priority, and I am personally not happy with the way i treat this project. I must get it done once and for all. InsyaAllah, this week, it will be submitted, that’s a challenge to myself.
