Day 323 Task – Jurying NALI2020

Work is hectic as usual, but due dates on certain task has forced me to prioritized certain tasks rather than other long due tasks. Today, I allocated the first half of my day to focus on evaluating some of the projects showcased by the educators from UTM and the rest of Malaysia.

I went through a special access to read through the documentations, extended abstract as well as view the youtube videos prepared by the participants. Honestly, it is very interesting to read the innovations and ideas showed by the participants. I’m impressed and happy to see the progress. This is what develops the advancement of knowledge and technology.

After completing this task, I am going to shift to another jurying task which is the PERTANDINGAN MATLAMAT PEMBANGUNAN MAMPAN ISKANDAR PUTERI 2020, which were organized collectively by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Johor (JPNJ)and Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA). I was shocked reading the email by the organizer that just reached my inbox just now because they say that the jurying starts from 17 (today) to 19 November 2020.

Day 139 Task – CEE New Building Project Renovation Site Visit

Today, after getting permission to enter UTM, I headed directly to C09 block, which will be the new building block for Centre for Engineering Education (CEE), UTM. It is a massive, far bigger than what I have imagined before. The renovation will be monitored by Jabatan Harta Bina (JHB). We had a meeting just now with the JHB team to finalized the details requirement for the massive renovation, covering 2 floors of C09. May Allah make this easy and smooth. InsyaAllah.

Day 138 Task – Managing CEE’s AJEE Journal

ajee utmI admit that it is not easy task to be a journal editor. I have to keep on managing, keeping track of the manuscript coming, reviewed, revised, camera ready and many more. But I appreciate this new experience and I am going to be there to grasp the challenge to make AJEE a Scopus Indexed journal. It is no easy task but so far, I can assure that we are on track to make that happen soon. InsyaAllah.

Today, I revisited the manuscripts and followed up several reviewers and authors. Hopefully everything will be a smooth journey.

Day 94 Task – Managing ASEAN Journal of Engineering Education (AJEE) Journal

Under the Center for Engineering Education (CEE), I was asked to manage the submission and reviewing of AJEE manuscript. It’s a new task I am assigned to but I kind of like to perform this task. Before this I was just a reviewer for multiple journals and conferences, but now I am taking the role of an editorial board.

I hope I can perform this task good enough and can manage to help in the publication of the 4th Volume of AJEE.

Day 63 Task – Reviewing Extended Abstract Submitted to RCEE

Today, in the early hours, I reviewed 5 extended abstracts submitted for RCEE2020. Alhamdulillah I managed to review all of the abstracts and provided critical comments for improvements. I am hoping to soon read the improved version of the extended abstract from the authors. InsyaAllah!

Day 36 Task – Graduate Success Attribute Workshop

Today I was asked to attend this one whole day Graduate Success Attribute Workshop. It took place at DK9, N24. This is a new 2 credit course that I have to teach and it is a course that must be delivered throughout the university.

Day 33 Task – RCEE Committee Meeting

Today, after checking and improving slide for TRGS presentation tomorrow, and also after checking chapter 3, 6 and 1 of Nazlina’s PhD thesis, I joined the RCEE conference meeting at CEE, T02. Today we discussed progress of the conference preparation as well as finally discusing about Summer School program which I need to head.

Done Submitting Abstract to ICoST2020

Roughly at 11.40pm this night, I managed to submit an abstract to ICoST2020 conference via EasyChair system. This work which was done by JL Lim, my PSM student who diligently work on the thermodynamic modelling. Hopefully this abstract will be accepted for presentation and subsequently accepted for publication in any of the scopus journal under the agreement with this conference.

Day 27 Task – Updating my UTM RADIS System

There has been numerous activities in my UTM RADIS System. I have received new grants, applied for new activity as well as waiting for claim for activities. Today, I am checking out and trying to update my Radis. One grant will be ending this 31st January and I need to prepare a report for that grant. Then, managed the other grants as well. All the best to me 🙂 . One of my grant has been just activated.

Other tasks:

  • Updating CAR for my courses.
  • Checking and update for MPC project.

Day 26 Task – Familiarizing with the Erasmus Project Discussion

Today is the 2nd day of Chinese New Year. We are presently at Atlantis Residence, Melaka. Soon we will be going to De Villa Bungalow neat Klebang area to be united with my extended family. There are not much official task going on today because we are fully pack with plenty of activities, meeting up with my parents and siblings + family. However, I just need to be keep updated with the progress of Erasmus Project which started few days ago. I was added to the group on Thursday, the day before CNY. It is a huge mega project and many academicians from various universities in Malaysia are involved. I was one of them, thanks for the recommendation from my mentor. For now I will just keep on with the progress and help on in any area I can and I am asked to.
