Binge watching of a Chinese drama called The rise of phoenices. 70 episodes finally done piiiuuh. I was struck by a statement made by a character, who is a reputable scholar Ziyan. He reminded the new emperor, who is also his closed friend, of their new status by saying ‘mountains and rivers seem close but a distance of a few steps seems far’. Hmmm very deep indeed.
Work Visit to China
Will be in China from 21 April t0 27 April 2019. The visit is for collaborative work with Chinese universities and the visit is sponsored by Kong Zi Institute. Thank you Kong Zi Institute, Universiti Malaya. Today, 22 April, we will visit 2 universities in Shanghai and tomorrow 1 university before we travel to Beijing by the Chinese fast train. The discussion will be on students’ exchange, research projects and collaborative programmes.
