Subtle Charity – Story 2

My friend and I were eating in a restaurant. Here came a lady with her blind husband and she had a bunch of tissues in her hand. This is a normal scenery in Malaysia. Blind people will go from one restaurant to the other selling tissues. Of course, they don’t go alone, they are accompanied by someone.

This weird friend of mine called up for the lady. and said she needs the tissue. She bought a pack of tissue which did not even cost RM1. But she paid RM20, since she said she didn’t have small change and as usual she asked the lady to keep the change. This time I did not ask anything, since she did not force me to take the tissue.

Subtle Charity – Story 1

I have a friend who is some kind of weird. She loves buying things which she doesn’t need. It sounds horrible right, you might think that she is just a big spender or what.

Actually, she loves buying things from street sellers. One day, coming out from a bank, there was a makcik sitting at a corner of the bank. The makcik was selling traditional crisps, like, kerepek pisang, kerepek ubi and other types of kerepek. She instantly bought a few kerepek from the makcik, and when she paid, she did not take the balance. ‘Keep the change’, she told the makcik. Then she passed all the kerepek to me, ‘nah, take them all, I don’t like kerepek’. I asked her ‘why did you buy then?’. She just smiled.

To her,
