Challenge yourself to speak up, and avoid gossip

Not many people dare to speak up. Is it because of culture, the way of our upbringing? You need four things to avoid watercooler conversations or passive-aggressive texting.

  1. confidence
  2. intent
  3. delivery
  4. strive to seek a solution

The result will be a happier and more productive workplace that values openness and honesty.

Take care of one’s health is an obligation in Islam

Muslims are requested to take care of their health. As mentioned in the Ql-Quran and followed by hadith, health is important because without good health one will not be able to carry out his or her duties, for example, perform prayers, observe fasting in Ramadhan and make a pilgrimage or Hajj to Mecca.

Quran (2:195)

And make not your own hands contribute to (your) own destruction (harm).

The Prophet (PBUH) said: “There are two blessings which many people do not appreciate: Health and leisure.”

Go for work-life balance. Don’t exert yourself and moderation in whatever you do is necessity.

Lesson Learnt from the COVID-19 Pandemic – 2

Apparently, the COVID-19 Pandemic is the corner stone for the blooming of infographics in Malaysia. Such fantastic infographics were introduced by the Ministry of Health as a quickest and easiest way to relay information and as well as to educate public on the importance of breaking the chain of COVID-19.

Lesson Learnt from the COVID-19 Pandemic – 1

Malaysians are pretty obedient. I went to the Hospital Sultanah Aminah on 13 January 2021 for an appointment and found that Malaysians, regardless age, gender and ethnicity, strictly followed the SOP imposed by the government. This is a good sign. If everybody does his or her own bits, we can together fight the COVID-19.

Communicating with narcissists…

It is not easy to communicate with narcissists or people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). They always want to win, will never listen to others and one thing I learnt recently about narcissistic people is that they are good at lying 🤥.

What is Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)?

From the healthline website, there are 9 official criteria for NPD.

  • grandiose sense of self-importance
  • preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
  • belief they’re special and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people or institutions
  • need for excessive admiration
  • sense of entitlement
  • interpersonally exploitative behavior
  • lack of empathy
  • envy of others or a belief that others are envious of them
  • demonstration of arrogant and haughty behaviors or attitudes

The advise given by experts when dealing with NPD people is to ignore or to get rid of them. Simply because they won’t listen and always want to win. No point of talking to them unless you want to get yourself hurt.

Covid 19: All we need is PATIENCE

In this difficult time combating Covid 19,  the only ammunition we can rely on is PATIENCE.  There are no other ways except for stay put where you are and seek Allah’s help through Patience and Prayers.

Surat Al-Baqarah (The Cow) – سورة البقرة

وَاسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ ۚ وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ

And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah ] | QS 2:45

Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best disposer of all affairs.
